I don't think there is much tape to have on him at this point. He wasn't even in the gameplan. After 2-3 more games with Duck under center, then the real test begins for him. The ravens couldn't get to him with the blitz. And you know they were trying to. If our line holds up, he'll be okay.

And this will sound like the ramblings of a crazy homer, and for good reason, but I really think we're getting better each week. If we could just keep our qb upright for more than 2 games it would be interesting to see what we could do.

Dude, I'm on board. Got my duck hat and 6 Jersey heading down to L.A. this weekend.... Can we reserve a part of Heinz Field as the Duck Blind now????

When they 'officially' announced today that Mason Rudolph wouldn't be playing, I heard the voice of Iago on Disney's Aladdin (the real one with Robin Williams).

"THERE'S A SURPRISE! I THINK I'M GONNA HAVE A HEART ATTACK AND DIE FROM ALL THAT SURPRISE!!!!!

Duck Hodges has some really good QB skills. Watching him in the preseason and the limited play he showed in the Ravens game, told me he knows how to think like a QB, and do those things that while the play is going on, can be cool, look for open WRs and throw it accurately to them.

His problems are his height (getting balls knocked down, and seeing over the line), and ball velocity and finally just NFL inexperience.

But if he is given the playbook, he can move the offense. It would be nice if we could run the ball, as that wil help him. And as long as Feitner doesn't only make him produce when he is in 3rd downs, Hodges can help us.

Best thing about that is he's just at 6'1"...makes it way harder for the db's to read his eyes downfield when he's behind that line..

Maybe he's just one of the few that just has it. It's born in you not taught. With just a limited amount of prep time he's already decent. With individuals such as that you just let them go and be themselves, but that's not the way the NFL works. See how he fares as time goes by.
He's fearless, and that's a proper starting point

All of that is true. I'm just worried that Tomlin and Fichtner will handcuff him by installing an ultra-conservative game plan.

I feel the same way, I am rooting like heck for this kid and it is a great story. I just find it hard to believe that the whole league passed on this kid not once but 3 times. Heck he is like our 4th QB this year if you count Dobbs before the trade since we cut Duck to keep him. Come sunday night I will have a glass of Kool aid(mixed with Vodka) or ten and be rooting like heck for him.

I forgot that Lynch had been promoted from practice squad. Tried deleting my post before someone commented, but you were way too fast.

Can you imagine the responses if during the preseason someone showed up here and said that our QB rotation was going to be Hodges, Lynch, Switzer?

Agreed. Hodges seems fearless, but Fichtner will turn him into checkdown Charlie Sunday.

He needs the wide outs to go to finch and let him know they are getting single coverage. Finch is kinda slow to change his play calling to what defense is doing.

If I was Hodges I won't necessarily be confrontational but if RF tries to do that, I'm ignoring him and balling out. This is your shot and once it is live TV just force the coaches hand. What are they going to do ?yank him for Lynch? There is no tomorrow and that makes them very dangerous men.

Best part is there's not that much tape of him in college either!
