Too bad he’s too small to play outside. That is our biggest weakness

You want your safeties to possess excellent tackling technique, and Mike Hilton fits the bill. The tackle yesterday of Edwards on third and goal was text book. That's what you expect out of your safeties. It was the only thing that drove me crazy about Troy. he usually tried to completely destroy a receiver or ball carrier, but sometimes he whiffed. Hilton is solid and dependable.

The Steelers should get past that and play him out there. Even at that height, he's better than Burns or Sensabaugh.

Not opposed, it does however take away from his blitzes out the secondary which are pretty nice time to time. They should definitely mix him up everywhere he's a wild card.

It doesn't really have to change his role in nickel and dime packages. He would just slide inside when they brought in Sensabaugh.

Why? 1st round rookies on defense rarely set the world on fire. Hood played some his rookie year, but didn't see much action. Heyward didn't even start his first year. Jarvis Jones didn't pan out. Shazier was good in '14. Bud Dupree has been average at best. Burns is looking like the B word. Watt started off '17 great, but hit the rookie wall. Edmunds is TBD.

I can only think of two 1st rounders on defense, in the past 20 years, that were really good right off the bat. Casey Hampton and Ryan Shazier.

That's a little different than your original post, where you only compared him to Troy.
