I've been saying for a while that Herbig will make Highsmith expendable.... we will eventually trade him... probably during an upcoming draft for a 2nd and/or 3rd rd picks

I don't know about a trade, but I do believe they are making him expendable. He is one of My number one complaints when TJ is taking on double, and sometimes even a chip with that, and he's not winning one, on one's. He had one great year, and that's it.

He’s opposite TJ Frick’n Watt! There’s no reason to disappear. Money wise, I think we hang onto him for the time being. But, the day is coming…

Idk Highsmith should have a good season. Last season was the 1st time he missed more than 1 game.
Not sure Herbig can be as durable if he was given starter minutes.

If you guys think he's not good and we should get rid of him, why do you also think another team would trade for Highsmith?

I'm not sure Herbig can be a long-term starter at his size.

Highsmith was 250 when we drafted him. Look at the draft pics vs pics of him now. He looks like he's bulked up a lot. Probably more lean muscle bulk, weighs actually less but core strength is much improved. I just hope he keeps improving. We'll need him this season.

Have they not accumulated several 1st's in future drafts? That's seems to be the expectation whenever names are mentioned. lmao

Honestly IMO he is not necessarily a draft day trade, anything can happen, but more likely someone that a team looks at after the CAP has been announced, available guys have signed and teams are looking for an experienced 'gap' guy to fill a roster. He might give some value, but unless he balls out the value in picks is not going to be as great as some hope for. I think Sawyer has a greater upside than Herbig and I like them both a lot, no immediate decisions have to be made on either, so trading Alex is more what can we do to better the team overall than an a desperation move.

Why do you think they can't?

Did you see the Minkah trade away coming? I didn't. Glad it happened though.

Herbig is not a starting olb. He started like 3 games last year and did nothing! The games I watched he got pushed around most of the game! He is good for a few plays!

Herbig isn't the answer. He's weak against the run, which, in the AFCN is a problem. His missed tackle rate last season was a whopping 29%!

I’m not on the “trade Highsmith” bandwagon, but to answer the second part of your question teams who love PFF-style analytics will love Highsmith. Last year PFF ranked him 7th out of 210 edge rushers. I don’t think he’s anywhere near THAT good, but some might.

He can't set the edge, very good rotational player.

Herbig outplayed Highsmith last season, especially during his time starting..... he's still developing... his run defense is underrated and his ff against Derrick Henry of all people, was one of the keys to our game 1 victory against them

I don't know if he outplayed him, but He did pretty good in his limited spots, and yes he is weak on the run, but most young edge rushers are, He can still develop this part of his game.
Also when I talk about Highsmith, most people, and I'm not talking about you, but a lot of people think, I think he sucks, and I don't, I like him very much, but it aggravates the crap out of me to see Watt taking on a double team, and a chip, and still making it to the backfield, and I look over , and Highsmith is still struggling with a one , on one block. It gets frustrating.
