For example there is a coach for offensive line tight ends wide receivers assistant offensive line assistant offensive

That’s potentially 5 people telling a tight end what to do

Why do you even need an assistant offensive line coach

I don't think we can compare the NFL in Noll's time with the NFL today...The NFL has changed a lot since then.

Many times they work with the younger players to develop them. During the year the o-line coach is busy working with the top 7 guys mainly and game plans.

Just like last year, many of the starters hadn't worked in the type of system Meyer runs. It took them half a year to start to get better at it. There just wasn't time to teach it to them and the other backups we had too.

We usually have more than one for qbs too. Also DBs.

With certain positional based coaches.. some are better at one position than they are at both. For example, I do remember reading about how Mike Munchak would work with the Interior Offensive Line more so than the Tackles whereas Shaun Sarrett focused on the Tackles. I have not the foggiest if that is the case for the likes of Pat Meyer and Issac Williams but usually having an Assistant Offensive Line Coach means having another set of eyes with another voice to further strengthen the discipline and fundamentals of the position group; usually with either Tackles of IOL.

We have 15 offensive linemen in camp. 4 QBs. Lot's of WRs. 8 RBs. 6 TEs. That's just on offense. Somebody has to keep track of the wristbands.
