Mark Madden is an a$$ and a disgrace. I won't read anything of his.

Hates the Pens too. He wanted Jake traded and wasn't happy until they did and turned around right after and complained that the Pens were out of the playoffs. You trade the best winger Sid has played with and wonder why they missed the playoffs.

    Lawrence just got pick #10.

You may not see it, but there is ALWAYS some owner or GM that loves him some name recognition. We see it every year.

So no, we're not delusional, we're rational and reasonable based on precedence. If Rooney would give green light to trade Watt (I think Rooney is a detriment when it comes to loyalty and risk-aversion), Kahn could get a surprisingly good return...same for Highsmith.

I believe this is what folks call a strawman argument.

I give you the benefit of a doubt you're not that ignorant, they wouldn't trade TWO of their edges in same year.

Agreed, trade em and make it a first three round focus to get a solid backup with upside who can use this year to learn and rotate in a play or three every other series and be a potential starter next year.

so an aging no longer dominant DT for #10 pick. Sounds like our Edges all could get a first round or at least a high 2nd and maybe a pick swap later in draft, say move up in round 4 or 5

Sawyer was the number 4 Edge rusher who played 25% of snaps last year. If you can get a return on a player ahead, then move everyone else up a spot so that you are comfortably just looking to fill that spot, you're in good shape.

I don't think it's worth talking about too much because it won't happen, but TJ's trade value should be higher than it was before his extension.

Since we paid him the signing bonus, the cost to other teams will be less than it would have been otherwise.

There is always some owner who wants a "big fish" for ticket sales or some coach who thinks they can "fix" something about a player.

But the only way TJ leaves the Burgh is if he actively pushes to get traded IMO.

I get that. But if you trade one of the edge rushers; you have to replace that spot with a draft pick.

Now, since they have 12 draft picks, that may not be as difficult as in "normal" years. But based on past draft trends, the replacement for your 3rd or 4th edge rusher is going to cost a 3rd or 4th round pick.

So if you only get a 3rd or 4th round pick in return for Highsmith or Herbig...you have not gained anything. Cap room?

They could've received a first round pick and more for Watt 3-4 years ago, Lawrence is 28 years old and probably has more left in the tank than Watt who is soon to be 32 years old.

I think they treat Watt like Heyward as a one helmet guy.

Lawrence is a better player than either of them. Hell, has Herbig ever played well in a game that he started?

And maybe you are some 65+ year " thinks " he is funny. But you do amuse me. Sort of like a clown.

I am the opposite of the famous NFL writer both socially, and physically. Joel the writer was a lonesome man whose best friend was his Dog.

He loved his football though and lived in a modest way. Does this remind you of somebody you have seen lately? That man stares back at you in the mirror.

Perhaps a team that needs a pass rusher but has a great QB ( think Kansas City or Buffalo ) would trade for Watt? Then there are several dumb owners.

I am saying there would be trading partners.

I want to keep Watt. I would give 3 to 1 against that we keeep Watt.
