    Highs

Sanders looked ready for the big time
Wheaton got his stupid play out of the way in the preseason and also caught a deep ball
The whole first team D looked good except for Gay but he's not really first team corner
Shamarko and Jones REALLY stood out
    Jones showed SOME improvement

    Lows
    Came out flat...again...
O-Line... for putting the "OFFENSIVE" in Offensive Line
    Special Teams...again...
Wheaton has another stupid play this week after hurting Sly last week
Playcalling and Coaching might need to be mentioned in "highs" but I think you meant something different. LOL.

    Highs:
Our DBs actually picked off a couple of passes
    Dwyer

    Lows:
Our starters got beat which indicates lack of preparation
Our backups got beat which indicates a lack of depth

I will agree with you except I will devalue Dywer a bit, terrible cut on that run and very week fumble. Still think it was a slight positive but if you fumble you wont be on the field.

Starters got beat cause lack of talent and no big time playmakers.
Depth got beat cause of lack of talent and not big time play makers.

This reminds me of one of those years from my youth, you know where Ernest Jackson comes in and leads the team in rushing? Where Lupe Sanchez is running around chasing people in the secondary.... just think this team has officially started the gut and renovate stage.

I think something was hit on that bothered me. Coaching really needs to step it up a notch or two or three. TH, was not impressive and I'm hoping it is because he has some super double secret probation stuff up his sleeve. Besides the oline being good/terrible, I was really concerned about the coaching! J Jones=beast!

Just my 2 cents on QB play/observations so far ...

    1. IMO Ben is playing tenative, I suspect his knee is bothering him and he is trying to hide it (1 sack tonight).

    2. Gradkowski only scrambles to his right, if I can see that, the opposing defenses can too (2 sacks tonight).

    3. Landry Jones scrambles to the right, to the left, up, back and all over. He has had only 1 sack (tonight) in almost 3 quarters worth of playing time, and that's been with our 3rd team offensive line.

I think the low point for me was realizing that I was essentially watching the same sad mistakes we made last season all over again. Nothing seems to have changed. Stupid penalties hurting ourselves, weak O-line leading to sacks and pressure on Ben (who can't possibly have many more years at this point), Pouncy getting manhandled (he really seemed to slip last year, and I was a huge proponent before then), pathetic special teams. Maybe it would be different if we fixed that stuff and were making new dumb mistakes because of our rookies, but it's the old ones resurfacing like a nagging injury that leave me feeling meh about this season.

A couple of big things I have noticed is E. Sanders looks great, and on the same subject, where is A. Brown? Am I wrong? has he had two passes thrown to him in two preseason games? I don't know if he is doing a terrible job getting open or is not the primary target.

    The highs:

Jarvis Jones needs to start, it's not even close.
Smarko Thomas, is a beast, could be he steal of the draft. He has a nose for the ball.
Landry Jones looked much better, throws a nice ball, but hopefully he gets a little better, he needs improvement
    Wheaton, has speed.
Poluson looks like he can catch, but he struggles in run blocking.
Dwyer looked better at running at hitting the hole last night.

    The Lows:

Turnovers and Penalties, if the Steelers elimate those two items, the score would have been reversed last night.
The Offensive line, no one really did good, Adams looks like he struggling at LT, but I think he will pick it up.
    Levon Bell, Johnson, Hurt. Dang.
Guy Whimper, please cut him now, Terrible.
Gilbert allowing the defenseive end to get a pick six on a little screen. Keep his arms down. Gilbert.
Rex Grossman looked like an All-Pro, but I think the Redskins are the deepest team in the NFL with QB's. Wow.
No chances at good returns of kickoffs or punts. Want to see Reggie Dunn, but he made smart choices.
Tomlin needs to get a little get after theses guys for the all the flags. Terrible.
At least it's pre-season and hopefully they get it together by week 1.
Trimming the 53-man roster wouldn't be hard for me at least.

I think all of my highs and lows have been covered here. I think Ben looks flat and tentative. Maybe its because he KNOWS his OL is really young and he is just waiting to be nailed? Who knows. Bell is a huge disappointment if he cant stay on the field. Coaching is ....I dont even know- non-existent? Whatever it is it is BAD. I agree 100% with whoever said they saw alot of the same things from last year's dismal season.

I forgot to add that I, too, love Jarvis Jones! Make the man the starter!

FYI (# of catches -- for -- # of time times targeted) ...
    A. Brown was 0 for 3 in the 1st game and 3 for 3 last night
E.Sanders was 3 for 3 in the 1st game and 2 for 2 last night

I really don't think ANY receiver is a primary target. I think they are absolutely committed to establishing the run. Surely this won't continue in to the season in games that matter. I don't wanna see us just running for running's sake ya know?

Thanks Mac for bringing it up ... Ben's "attempted slide" and the fact he doesn't want to move much left or right outside the tackles, are two of the reasons I think his knee is bothering him.

Let's cut Ben some slack on the slide guys. I mean for his whole career he's just been diving head or shoulders first in to the biggest linebacker he could find. Maybe he is finally making some progress. LOL.

As much as I like the addition of Gradkowski, he isn't going last more than a game or two, unless he starts scrambling some to BOTH sides.

Just finished wathcing on catch-up. I may feel differently after a second look, but VA has pretty much summed it up here for me.

A bit more confident in Landry now, mind.
