Has anyone else noticed they switched positions? Just wondering the pros/cons of this switch. Comments?

Either this is a non issue or no-one noticed and/or cares. It seems it's time to move on.

I'd assume it is to give Tuitt reps at the other side since Heyward has played both. It would allow for more flexibility in play calling

When did they switch? I thought they were in their normal spots for the Jacksonville game. Are you talking about in practice?

As I watch the preseason games I alternate who I key on and I usually go back and rewatch it to break it down some. I haven't gone back yet vs the Jags but I did notice during game time I saw those two switched positions a couple times. Heyward was playing RDE and Tuitt LDE.

I assumed it was because Heyward had success attacking the QB last yr they wanted him going against the opposing LT as a new wrinkle in applying QB pressure.

That's not a switch. Those are their normal positions.

You surprise me snack. Heyward replaced Ziggy at LDE. Tuitt replaced Keisel at RDE.

I'm pretty positive he's right Cajun. Last year Heyward played on Jones and Deebo's side while Tuitt and Cam Thomas were on Worilds' side.

Ok...I just went back and reviewed two games. 12/28/14 vs the Bengals. Just looked at the 4 qtr and Tuitt was playing LDE & Heyward RDE!!! How did I miss that?

I then went further back to the start of 9/7/14 vs the stains.... They listed Heyward as LDE.... which he was playing when Keisel was in the game.... but when they had C. Thomas in the game he was at LDE and Heyward shifted to RDE.

Wow......I'm slipping, didn't catch the switch last year, and I call myself a diehard fan...........

Haha, I'm glad you copped before I got back. I woulda pelted ya.

But it's not all your fault. Here are some reasons for your mix-up:

    1. Cam Heyward has played LDE before. Pretty much only when he played with Keisel, who only played RDE. That didn't happen too often, but it happened a little.

    2. The Steelers are always subbornly wrong about their own depth chart, sometimes, and this is one of those times. For years they've been flip-flopping the DEs on their official depth chart, and the one on Steelers.com. But you know it's not because I'm looking at it backwards... they get the OLBs correct. In other words, they'd have said that LaMarr Woodley and Ziggy Hood played on opposite sides. They are wrong, and have been for years, and I don't know why.

    3. Some "professionals" get it wrong. Dale Lolley insisted that the Steelers couldn't possibly be wrong on their own official depth chart (surely they know more than some blog commenter!), and that Cam Heyward always has been LDE. Dale wrote a blog post once about how the team was going to start "experimenting" with Heyward on the right side. That guy, I swear.
