A couple of my ravens friends may be stopping by. The ones I know are coming are very cool and non bias. They won't come here to troll just to talk football. Please welcome them with open arms except for raven week of course. They can handle a good nature ribbing as well. So we have a rule on their board of no personal attacks and no attcks on each other's cities. It would be nice to get an outside view on our team. Right now I know thundercleats is one and I would bet papasmurf and cravenraven will be here. A few trolls may slip in but I doubt it their site is a small group of close friends who know football. Thanks in advance for welcoming them.

Lmao hes a coward I doubt he steps into the lions den. Most of these guys were fans of the Baltimore colts so they are old guys who just love football. I personally like the back and forth with other knowledgeable fans who keep it classy. Thundercleats is my fav other then craven

Cool. Can't wait to tell them that their city is a cess pool, Their Coach is an arrogant jagoff, their best player was guilty of aiding and abetting two felony murders but only got off cause of money, their whiny QB is going to be way overpaid which will result in zero Championships so long as he has that contract, 99% of their fans have an IQ similar to toe fungus and the other 1% is that of the sock that goes over it.

Got any Stains fans out there as well?

At least bring some Packers fans over so that we can actually talk football.

She's so fat that she was actually Ray Lewis' prison b***h and they didn't have any room left in the cell so they actually had to acquit him. Here's another for someone to complete. Jim Hairball is so arrogant. (maybe the new Rats fans can answer this one, lol.)

like ICE -T of Body Count sang

    THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOOOOOOOOOD!

do we really want these fans with their " magic math"

for the life of me i can't compute how they claim the ravens have 5 Lombardis by including the team that moved to another state

    and as Sagat would sing
    WHY IS IT?

EVERYTIME I BRING UP THE STEELERS 6 RINGS
SOME RAVENS FANS CLAIM THEY HAVE 5.

    MAN,FUNK DAT!

would it be wrong for us to mention the MAYFLOWER when we beat their buttocks on thanksgiving day in their house

Signing up a site called thesteelersfans to defend the ravens is a bit like joining motorcyclemaintenancefans to talk about gardening, no?

It might make the off-season go a bit quicker though, though, so why not?

I dont want Ravens fans here, I dont care how much they think they know about football....this is a Steelers fans site and if I wanted to talk smack with jagoffs I can do that everywhere else. If we are inviting others fans in here, its no longer a steelers fans forum....I vote no, if it matters, if it doesnt, well I probably wont be around here much....just so you know, I live in MD and have to deal these idiots daily!

The Steelers section will still be for Steelers fans only. The other sub-forums will be open to all who are willing to play by the rules.

If you don't want to talk with other teams fans, just stay in here. ;)

The guy that is coming isn't coming to talk smack. He likes to talk football and follows the Steelers closely. I promise you he will not disrespect anyone on here. Even on the ravens board he has said a bunch of good stuff about the Steelers.

Yes. And it's TTF's board so he's free to change his mind. But it is my understanding that he's considering keeping the "Steelers Talk" to Steeler fans. Fans of other teams would be allowed to post in all other sub-forums, but we'd keep this one to ourselves.

We wouldn't relegate opposing fans to only the smack talk forum. We DO also have a more formal sub-forum devoted to the other 31 teams in the NFL. There's plenty of room in there for respectful cross talk and discussion.

Why might we keep them out of the Steeler Talk sub-forum (or at least give them only the ability to read but not post)? In the off season, having opposing fans in here could make it a bit more lively. But during the season is another ball of wax. When we get into the heat of the season, we tend to get combative with each other at times. That's normal and expected. But when in-house feuds crop up, the last thing we would need is opposing fans stirring the pot. This board does have a no trolling policy, but "trolling" is often a gray area and we tend to err on the side of letting things go (to a point). We couldn't do that at all if we even suspected trolling from, say, a Bengals fan. We'd have to police it immediately. And then that might open up another can of drama. And the vicious cycle begins.

Better to keep the CIVIL discussion in the "Other Teams" sub-forum, and allow the bashing to happen in the smack talk forum. The Smack Talk forum is going to be an "enter at your own risk" type place. Some forms of trolling we'll let slide. Bashing teams and players is AOK. Taunting is fine and dandy. We may even let language slip a little. Sure, some rules are concrete even in there: no personal attacks (a tease or mild taunt is fine. Riding someone or bringing in real life things is not), nothing remotely pornographic, and no politics/religion. But otherwise, people will be free to sling away.

Keep in mind: nothing is set in stone, and I'm uncomfortable speaking for TTF because I cannot. Just giving you a glimpse of the thought process going into it. He could allow them access even to this forum, but with the understanding that they'll be held to a more firm and strict application of the rules. What we don't want - at all - is bashing, trolling, trash talk, flame wars, etc happening in here. Sometimes we have a hard enough time keeping up with policing threads that are off-topic, multiple threads on the same subject, etc. Throwing a spark into this powder keg during the season is just asking for trouble.

Besides: the sub-forums need love too. :D

I agree with most of what you said I think they should at least get a probation period on the Steelers board as constructive views from the outside are always nice to hear and talk about.b I think just banning them because they aren't a steeler fan is jnda harsh. It's yinz board and I like it but that's just my opinion.

I don't think anyone would be banned for not being a Steeler fan. But here's an example of what kind of dilemma we could face:

Random Browns fan joins the board and playful ribbing aside, is a good poster. But he rubs 1 or 2 guys the wrong way for whatever reason up to and including he's a Browns fan. ;)

They take it upon themselves to harass him at every turn. It's no longer good natured trash talk. But personal insults and abusive behavior that spills into or takes place in the Steelers Talk section.

By our own rules, these 2 Steeler fans are in the wrong and we have to police them. We give them a private warning to chill out. They take offense to this because we're seen as "taking that Brownie's side." Maybe they get nasty with one of us. Maybe they ignore us and keep right on attacking this guy. Left with no choice after a couple stern lectures, we have to ban one of them...

Now half the board is miffed because we banned an otherwise good, friendly, poster who's a solid fan and perhaps is even one of the old guard that goes back to the earliest days of the Official board. And the mutiny begins to build steam. There's an exodus to other sites. TSF.com is bashed on other sites for a host of overly dramatic reasons. And within a year, this place is a ghost town.

Over the top example? Worst case scenario?

    Maybe.

But things like that should be considered in advance so we know how to handle it smoothly and not let it get out of hand. Hence, the debate. :)

Personally, I don't mind if fans of other teams posted here in Steelers Talk... provided we're discussing Steeler related things and they follow the rules. But as you yourself said, we may need some kind of vetting system to be sure we're not letting the wrong type in.
