Shea McClellin was drafted in the mid first round by the Bears in 2012 (I think it was pick #19 or so). All of the buzz leading into the draft centered around him as an 3-4 OLB candidate. The Bears drafted him to be a DE in a 4-3 defense, and he has not been the player they wanted him to be. They are now moving him to OLB or ILB in a 4-3 defense - another questionable fit. I loved McClellin in the 2012 draft, and I thought then that he was a pure 3-4 OLB in the pros, and that the Bears were foolish in drafting him to play with his hand in the dirt. I now think that they're not getting good value by trying to make him a 4-3 OLB, but I that could provide a better return than keeping him at DE. The best thing for the Bears might be to trade him before the draft. I would love to pick him up. Any thoughts?

I would trade Mike Adams for McClellin.

Just throw the doughnuts and Gilbert would go. :lolol:

But seriously, my dad and I have actually talked about this scenario several times. McClellin is just not made to go against big tackles as a DE. He only has his speed to try to get to the QB. Was a wasted pick for the Bears. Especially with Decastro, Reiff, Hightower, and Mercilus still on the board at the time of their pick.
As far as what the Bears should get in return, I would think at least a 4th rnd pick at this point seeing as how McClellin's stock should be down. However it's very doubtful that Phil Emery (Bears GM) would give up on his first pick ever as a GM after 2 years.
