Oh, no, no, no: You've asked perfectly reasonable questions, and those aren't allowed to many in these here parts. There is an excuse for every question you asked. And in this world of Tomlin, excuses rule.

I think we've established that Canada SUCKS and Kenny is playing well below the line. I'm not willing to say yet that it's a pattern with Kenny but it's sure as heck a pattern with that feckless OC we currently have! As you well know, I've been a huge Kenny supporter since we drafted him and thought I'd seen enough of him to start believing that he maybe can be our next franchise quarterback. The pre-season only reinforced that for me. But...the last couple of weeks I've started to have serious doubts about whether or not he can take the next step. But one thing is for sure, we need to get rid of that pathetic OC in order to know for sure whether or not Kenny, and several other talented players on offense, will be able to take the next step and become quality NFL players. Not giving up on Kenny yet, but starting to have some reservations.

Oh good lord is right. Nowhere in your response do you put any of the blame on Matt Canada. Do you really believe that Canada is a legitimate NFL offensive coordinator and the only issue with him is the players that he's been cursed with? And it's 4 quarterbacks if you count the start that Rudolph had against the Lions in which he and the offense played well below the line for most of that game...shocker!

Was going to comment that he must have missed the snorefest tie vs the lions I believe the week after a MNF win vs the bears.

I'm with you on we don't know what we have really with any player because they are running an inept scheme tailored to nobody. 1st it was Ben is slow we need a mobile qb. Then they got mitchburgh who stunk it up and mason sucked too. Now we're on to lil ken who is not playing well. Maybe they could try out an established HOF level QB to see if its the qb or the OC...o wait we did that and the offense only looked decent in hurry up. Just going to keep wasting weeks which turn into years with an OC that has been below mediocre at every level but at least he OCd at maryland.

I get tired of this narrative. It's a lazy trope for those that hate on pretty much everything and don't want to be pressed on anything.

    "My opinion/flawed logic = fact. Your opinion/not-so-flawed logic = excuses and/or Tomlin/Canada/Rooney/Pickett/etc nut-hugging."

It reminds me of the kind of unproductive stuff a troll like FosterMorris would junk up a board with.

Does a new oc make Pickett more accurate? Does a new oc mean picket will make better decisions?

MD, where he gave Tomlin's son a full scholarship, it just so happens and then he got hired and kept his OC job in Pgh, it just so happens, but nothing to see here. Nothing dirty and "you scratch my back I scratch yours" going on.

Does a new OC establish a rushing game to help the QB? Does a new OC call plays that are organized with a chance of succeeding? Just wondering.

Judging by the direction this thread has gone, I'm going to assume there's a faction of this board that was on board with the Steelers retaining Canada as their offensive coordinator and are also on board with his continued employment of said organization. This comes as somewhat of a shock to me because up until now, I had not seen this man so vehemently defended. Things are not always as they seem.

2nd offensive play of the 1st game I knew the preseason was a sham and we were in for a disappointing year. I still hope I'm wrong, but I have the receipts in a group chat to prove it and I think Canada is a far inferior chip kelly unwilling to gameplan to win the game and would rather just run his offense regardless of talent.

Then last game we have a 3rd & 1 and we leave it up to the qb to decide to run or hand it off when we were told he can't audible. I'm not sure up to that point of the game what gave anyone within the coaching staff confidence it would be converted. Maybe its just all of the steelers roster isn't as good as we think and maybe the 7 pairs of brothers and all the Tomlin connections on the roster are not working.

No and no. But a new OC may be able to get Pickett's best out of him, as well as get the best out of the other offensive weapons the Steelers have. Good coaches, which Matt Canada is NOT, have a way of doing that.

As is always the case it takes bit for an offense to come together. One would hope one new addition wouldn’t take 3 weeks, but it has. Kenny was never exactly lighting the world on fire last season. I even brought up his issues against zone last season and said if he didn’t figure it out the real challenge would be this year when the whole league figured out his limitations. Muth has had targets, but big ken has missed him. I’m not going back through the browns game, but Washington ran 17 routes vs San Fran and was open on most, but big k never looked his way. Najee? Have you watched our offensive line play the last two games. Additionally you realize that our opponents have sold out to stop the run right? Pickens had 10 targets last week. Should they ignore everyone else on the offense and just throw his way 30 times? Shall I continue? I know you put a lot of work into your list.

I really didn't put much work into it...didn't even break a sweat it was so easy to come up with, lol. Let me ask you this question and I'm genuinely interested in hearing your response. I appreciate you looking at the all 22 and determining that Washington was open on most of the 17 routes that he ran. Do you think Matt Canada was seeing the same thing throughout the game? If so, do you think he was chewing on Pickett's ear and saying "Kenny, throw the freaking ball to Mt. Washington...he's been open all day long! What the crap is wrong with you, get your eyes open!" If that were to happen and I were Kenny Pickett, I think I'd be looking for the big rookie. At any rate, there is a communication breakdown somewhere. Is it with Canada? Is it with Kenny? I'm basing my opinion on what we've seen out of Canada the last three years, pre-Kenny and post-Kenny. I still have hope for Kenny even though he's looked out of sync the last two weeks.

I would hope it wouldn't be too terribly taxing on you, but wouldn’t be shocked if you needed a long nap afterwards either.
I’m not going to speculate on what Canada is saying to Pickett during the game, but I’m sure it’s not all flowers and butterflies. With that being said I’m sure it’s more along the lines of work through your progressions. Pushing a quarterback to focus solely on one player is a fool’s errand. But, let’s play your game. Let’s say Pickett did as you propose and just looks for Washington. Let’s also say he converts 3 maybe even 4 straight passes to Washington. How long do you think that’s going to last? How many pick 6’s will kenny be throwing following your master plan?

i watched Purdy again last night - now for several straight weeks.

Put HIM on this TEAM and he would blow chunks too. don't some of you numbskulls get is? coaching and scheme matter here in the NFL - hell, it mattered when i coached 6th graders.

some of you are very dull.

Kenny WILL fail here, so will anyone else in this offense.

Tomlin stinks and so does Cana-duh!
