A couple of us steeler fans were talking about ben and how good he is playing. One guy said he is now the best we have ever had. I laughed and said yeah he is better than bradshaw. I was joking, he wasn't. We had a pretty good debate, but i still say terry was better. He ask me if you had to win one game who would you take in their prime. We disagreed, but i was wondering how many would take ben. I know its different era but for fun i was wondering.

Good question. I dont know. We talked about the teams. His argument was terry had better players. Stallworth and swann made him better. I told him bens recievers dont suck. Its hard to compare i know. I just think terry was better. It could just be cause i liked terry more. I guess for arguments sake give them the best we got. By that i mean an all star steeler line

Its hard to explain if you didnt see him play much but terry as far as i can remember was considered one of the best to ever play when he retired. I think he was a hall of famer as soon as he was eligible.

Terry is better for one reason, 4 superbowls. Terry was sacked a lot, Terry threw a lot of picks. In his prime, I would take Terry over Ben any day. Put Bens best offensive against Terrys best offensive,....I ll still take Terry.

Not up to date but heres some stats. http://www.databasefootball.com/teams/t ... pit&lg=NFL

"Terry Bradshaw is so dumb he couldnt spell CAT if you gave him the 'c' and the 't'." :roflmao: :roflmao: :yeehaw:

i was and he didn't suck. ben has the luxary of alot more rules that raise his passing numbers. TB was a tough, big QB in his day. ben ain't the only guy that can throw with guys drapped on him. if ben wins two more he can be in the conversation. that's like peyton and bree's and whoever they say is better than ben, show me the hardware. yards and completions don't pay the bills. SB's are why they play the game. all these qb's have alot of other people that make them look like GODS. without them they are just average football players.

I would take Ben. Bradshaw had a much better cast around him. Looking at the other 10 positions, Bradshaw's crew were better in 9 of the 10 positions. Heath Miller is the only one better at his position. Ben is also bigger, harder to bring down and much more acurate than Bradshaw was.

I disagree. I think Terry was harder to bring down and more accurate. You have to remember though the defensive players were allowed to touch QBs when Bradshaw played. There were some mean ass, hard hitting, try to rip your head off, players back then.

ben had hines ward, the guy that broke all the receiving records. santonio. plax. young money, the best wr. group in the league. c'mon man. they could beat them , mug them, knock the snot right out of them when they caught the ball back in TB's day. much harder to complete a pass. again 4 to 2.

I even took the super bowls out of it. I would take terry because dude was quicker than u think. He had a stronger arm than ben. I know that will cause people to laugh but his arm was great. If u needed a play terry would make it. I aint saying ben sucks. I would take him over any qb in the league now. I guess its all in when u grew up

You really can't compare the two as the game has changed so much in nearly 40 years. I know people love to use Super Bowls wins as a measuring stick, but it's a team sport.

Even without the superbowls I would take Terry as well. My measure with the SBs is well, 4 trophies. At the end of the day, doesnt matter if you win every game of the reg season, score the most points, have the best stats of anybody in history, if you dont make it to the finish line.. Dan Marino is a prime example, great QB but no SB trophies.

Even WHEN Ben has 4 trophies ;) , Terry is still my choice.

I'll revisit this question when Ben has played a full career. Because if it's the Ben we are seeing now and he continues to improve on what was already an impressive career, that will make me pause.

"Different eras" has a different amount of meaning when talking about different positions, but I think QB has got to be the position where it has the most meaning. If Bradshaw was born in the 80s and played today, would he be throwing for 4,000 every year with the way the game has changed? Maybe. Or maybe he wouldn't have been given so many chances to become the player he did and he'd be out of the league. Would Ben thrive in the 70s? Maybe, he's pretty tough. But if he was born in the 50s, would a dude his size even be playing football? If he did, would he be quarterback? Would he thrive in that kind of offense? Would he throw a better deep ball?

I don't use Super Bowls to decide either. I can't underestate how stupid that is. The ultimate team achievement determining personal abilities just makes no sense. Unless one of the men won a SB entirely on his own (neither of them) or lost a SB entirely on his own (neither of them, although Ben gave it a shot in '05), it's just silly. I really wish that would stop being criteria used for Hall of Fame consideration.

They are both great, and we'll never know for sure who was better, no matter what Ben does.

While SB victories does have it's merit, it's not the be all end all. You only have to throw one name out there to blow up that line of thought, Dan Marino.

Both great but Bradshaw had a better arm and was a better athlete. Like Ben he would stand in the face of the rush and still make the throw. Pittsburgh is fortunate to have had two quarterbacks with this kind of talent.

For one game we had to win, I'll take Bradshaw.

I was young when I started watching Bradshaw and the Steelers. From what I barely remember (later in TB's career) was him being not the most accurate QB, but his receivers went and got the ball. (Stallworth, Swann, etc.) Please tell me if my perception was correct or incorrect.

About Ben's year this year, I am just amazed, even with all of this talk about dinking-n-dunking, he has 16 TDs and 4 interceptions, which is second fewest in the AFC behind Marsha Brady. I think that is pretty great!
