Well i have always had bad teeth since i was a kid, not rotten, lol just bad. So i and broke down and got me some dentures yesterday. I was wondering if anyone here that has them would have any suggestions, with eating, talking, and so on with dentures .. The dentist told me it would be a process, to learn these things again . and so far its been pretty agrivating

No dentures. But I do have a partial.

Just takes getting used to. You WILL adapt. The partial was hard enough. Can't imagine a full plate. I lisped for a few days until I adjusted to my new bite. Taking smaller bites until you're used to it helps.

The hard part for me was getting over the feeling of being gagged. Your tongue is used to resting on the roof of your mouth, so it feels like a foreign body and your brain thinks you're about to choke. That goes away too.

I'm sure your dentist has you on a followup schedule to adjust the dentures as needed. If they hurt, or feel like they're slipping too much, ask to see him/her sooner if needed.

    Hang in there.

My shoulder and your mouth. Steelers Nation is falling apart! LOL! I'm sure that would be a huge pain. I actually broke a tooth a few months ago on a popcorn seed and had to get a new tooth there. Well when they put it in they left almost a little space around the back of it and food gets caught in there constantly. It's really annoying. It's in the back of my mouth and that makes it even harder to deal with. So while I can't help you with the dentures I sure can understand the aggravation of a tooth problem.

How long has it been since your teeth were extracted? Do you still have some swelling in your gums? That might affect the seal of the dentures. Once they fit / seal correctly, they should feel more solid to you. It sounds funny, but as soon as you can relax with the dentures in, they'll feel much more natural.

If your dentist gives you the clear, Fixodent helps too.

I got them extracted yesterday, the dentist said there should be some swelling but i really cant tell.. He also said they made a lil large dentures for the swelling that ocures .. i went back to the dentist today for a follow up, but he mainly just checked my stitches and such,, told me to come back in two weeks and they would put a "soft liner " in the dentures, and reshape them, .... oh and im not allowed to use FIxaden and things of that natue, till the 'teeth sockets" heal

    Ok. That explains a lot.

Yeah, once you're healed up completely, and he does the final touches on your dentures, they'll feel 100% better. Right now, they're getting you accustomed to having them in your mouth (and so you don't have to go out in public toothless).

Yeah it took me a while to get used to the new tooth they had to give me. Now it feels natural except for the angle of the back of it that causes certain kinds of food to get stuck in there.
