He will probably start the season on the PUP list but I haven't heard how his rehab is going.

I would say that no news is good news but in this case I don't think anyone outside the organization is really knowledgeable on his injury. I don't expect him back til about week four. Just guessing here though.

I've not heard anything about how his rehab is going. We're all hoping he'll make a quick and full recovery of course, though. :praying:

I actually saw a thing on NFL Network the other day where they were prognosticating that we might take a TE early because of Heath's injury. If this is the case that is NOT good. We need Heath because he's a HUGE part of Haley's schemes obviously. If Matt Spaeth were Heath we'd have never let him go in the first place I think. I really hope Heath can get back asap and not suffer any lingering symptoms for the rest of his career. I'm sure he's working harder than anyone this offseason. I think he always does any way really.

I've seen a couple of mock drafts having us taking a TE in the first round - how likely is this, do we think?

No need to worry! Heath is Superman and superhuman. He will be back, atleast, that is my prayer every night.

Mine too, Jim. I probably felt worse about his injury than any that I've seen in a while. He was closing out a very good season for himself personally and then suffers a devastating knee injury the next to last game of the season. I was hoping he would be able to enjoy the off-season and get fresh for next year but instead he has to spend the entire off-season rehabbing. I hope he's back and better than ever in 2013. He's the epitome of what the Pittsburgh Steelers are all about!

with two young tackles, we will use more two TE sets this year. alot depends on paulsons upbringing. has he hit the weights this offseason? has he worked on blocking technique? i liked what i saw last year of the kid, but he's got the blocking part of his game to work on and we knew that. he seems to me to be a hard working guy and can catch the ball, so i guess i have higher hopes for him making a difference for us this year.

having will johnson in year two also helps this cause. he can do alot of things as a FB to help and is a decent receiver and blocker and only will get better i believe. i think he's more of an ace in the hole to cover heaths loss early. we should be fine until heath gets back. trouble is he's only signed for this year as are so many guys.

I don't rhink it's very likely given the needs on this team. I guess if a can't miss, way better than anyone else kind of TE is there maybe you take him. But if you take a TE, you don't get a WR or a OLB or a CB, and I'd rather one of those.

Well, there's only one TE in this draft that's a first round talent. While I don't think it's likely, one could make a strong argument for drafting Eifert. Definitely not at pick 17, though.

    or safety.

i like eifert alot. does he fit what haley likes? i think he does, even with heath miller healthy. we need TD's to win. if we think he can give us 6 TD's a season and block as good as heath by year 2-3 then he would be a good investment. we need scorers in the worst way. if he can give us 6 a year along with heaths 8-9, we would have something. if he helps the run game and helps out pass protection for ben and our young tackles, he would be a good investment.

i still think it's safety, but this wouldn't be a bad way to go. our O is much weaker then our D right now. our safety spot is looking for a future big time starter.

GM Kevin Colbert did say he doesn't know if Heath will play in 2013. Some of the mock drafts have the Steelers taking Eifert at #17.

If only we had a TE named Twix, those are the best.

    NO, NO, NO....
WHATCHYAMACALLIT is the best ever!!!(Although I am partial to "KitKats", not sure if they are technically a candy bar?)
All kidding aside, I`m with JackAttack on this one.
Very rarely do I personally feel for a player that gets hurt.
I guess nowadays, you could say I am "empathy-challenged", after all, they know the risks, reap the rewards, and choose to do so, of their own free will.
However, Heath had been having probably his best year ever(at least stat-wise), and to see him take such a devastating injury(at the hands of the Bungles, no less), with only 1 more game to go, just really pissed me off.
Yeah, Yeah, I know, NO player ever deserves to get injured, and life ain`t fair,
But to see this happen to one of the guys who ALWAYS plays the game, the right way, and with every bit of effort he can possibly give, just struck me as wrong!!!
Maybe its karma for Von Olhoffen, rolling into Palmer`s knee?
Who knows? I just think it`s a damn shame, definitely not a deliberate, dirty play, or anything.
Hell it didn`t even look THAT bad, when he limped off under his own power.
But, on the bright side, I know, if anyone will do their best to rehab it corrctly, and bust their ass to get back on the feild, I`m sure it`s HEEEEAAAATTTHH!!!!
Hope to see him back on the field sooner than later!!!:superman::praying::herewego!:

    OOOUUUCCCHHH!!!
I had been trying to find an actual replay, of the play he got hurt on, thru youtube, nflnetwork, google, etc, and the closest I could come, was this...
Disclaimer... It doesn`t show the actual injury, but, it WILL remind you how poorly we played, when we STILL had a chance to secure a playoff berth, with only one game to go, against the Clowns...(where`s the "shaking my damn head" smiley?)
    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...eath-miller-to-undergo-surgery-for-acl-injury
Anyhow, this re-cap reminded me that Heath did not limp off under his own power.
Keisel, and a trainer had to help him to the sidelines.
From what I remember(And, obviously, my memory`s faulty), he caught a pass, and the defender tackled him from in front, hit his knee, at a bad angle, and caused the injury, but from my memory(unfortunately, I just deleted most of last year`s games from my DVR, to free up space), the guy that hit him, pretty much dove for his legs, and wrapped him up, around his knees.
It really didn`t look at the time, like his knee got bent backwards, or awkwardly, or anything, from what I remember.
I remember being surprised that he was hurt at all..
Just a shoulder a little below the knee, from what I remember.
Then again, it was the 4th qtr, of a game I was quite frustrated, watching, so, I`m sure I had more than a few brews in me by then, So, If anyone can find a link to actual footage of the hit, I would appreciate it.
    GO STEELERS... GO HEATH!

i'm not to sure that was the hit bleed. he got hit the play before or a couple of plays before that and i first said he's hurt.

like the trooper he is though, heath stayed in the game and that hit to the knees finished it or thats when he realized something worse was going on. if you get the film check that out and let me know.

Heath is one of those rare tough, dedicated, focused players who will apply those attributes to his rehab: I expect his rehab is already ahead of schedule, and I expect he will be back on the field a lot sooner than people think: They said Adrian Peterson wouldnt make it back untill mid season, but he rehabed in time to open the season, he focused on his rehab and beat the odds, I have no doubt Heath will do the same thing.....
