Heath Miller (knee) is expected to come off the PUP list prior to Saturday's deadline.Per coach Mike Tomlin, Miller is looking "great." It appears he'll avoid reserve/PUP, a move which would have cost him the first six games of the year. We'd still hesitate to count on Miller as anything more than a deep roster stash because he's 30 years old and coming off a complete repair of his ACL, MCL and PCL. Even if he avoids PUP, he might not even play until Week 3 or 4. Aug 27 - 12:06 PM

He should've worked out with Adrian Peterson, he would've been back sooner, bigger, better, and faster.

    Great news !!

Who do you think we will use the "reserve/pup" thingy on, or will we save it?

My Guesstimation he will get the green light & take the field on Sept 8th @ home. Wow are you seeing the standing ovation hearing the noise and the waving of the towels. Hey Glenn could you pour me another shot of that kool-aid :goofy: Seriously I'm with 24-7 on this one!

You're thinking of two different things. The PUP list is something players go on at the start of camp when they are physically unable to perform due to football injuries. Right before the season officially starts teams have to choose to let players stay on the PUP or take them off. If they stay on...then they must stay on it for 6 weeks...then the team has 3 weeks for the player to start practicing once they practice they have ANOTHER 3 weeks to make a final decision on them...activate them or IR them. You cannot PUP someone later on.

The IR - w/ Designation to Return while similar it is different. PUP is something someone has to go on in preseason not during the season/etc...so nobody can be PUP'd at this point. The special IR can be used anytime during the season and the player stays on it X amount of weeks (I forget) then they can resume practicing/playing/etc or be put on IR for good.

Again similar in nature but different technicalities/etc I guess, haha.

I started a thread a month or so ago that said Heath would be activated before the season so they can allow him to play before week 7. So this goes along with what they were saying then. This is great news.
