I think most of us had a pretty good guess that Brucie really wasn't retiring. He confirms here http://www.ydr.com/sports/ci_19803396 that he wasn't offered another contract. Call it whatever you want, but the Steelers no longer required his services and he wasn't asked to come back. I would call that getting fired.

At any rate, as far as BA being looked at by another team, good luck. Buyer beware. Nobody wants this guy and even he knows it. From the article: "saying he applied for every open position last year but did not get an interview. Every time, someone younger prevailed, he said." News flash Bruce: it has nothing to do with your age, but it has everything to do with your incompetency. But in typical BA fashion, he accepts no responsibility for his dismissal.

Unfortunately, the Steelers have had a bad habit recently of holding on to some folks longer than they should have, who had little to no value on the NFL market - witness BA, Hartwig, Starks, Leftwich, Wee Willie Parker.... no need to go on any further. The guys who came back were only because nobody else wanted them - they are useless to 31 other NFL teams. My bigger concern with this trend is that it coincides with the hire of Mike Tomlin. MT couldn't step up and fix the problem he created and kept ignoring it, so the owners had to step in and do his job. This is a concerning trend and if MT doesn't step up and exert some control over the players and coaches, then it may be time for MT to "retire" soon. Buh-bye Brucie, maybe you and Ben can go kick it over Spring break at a Georgia nightclub with the DTF chicks.

In this day and age, why would anyone feel that they are entitled to a job? Like the rest of us, it's not what you've done in the past, it's what have you done for me lately. For BA, an offense that ranked 21st in scoring simply doesn't cut it.

    Goodbye and Good luck.

If he ever became a head coach somwhere I bet he'd hire Mike Martz as his offensive coordinator for sure...

In this day and age I don't think any NFL team desires a 59 year old rookie head coach.

I am one of the biggest fans of Ben but if he thinks that sandlot football style with an inept situational playcalling Offensive Coordinator and no running game is going to get him to that 5th trophy (that he can rub Terry's Bradshaws nose in) before he ends up paralyzed then he's certainly living in Fantasy Land.

I'd really like to know what Mike Tomlin thinks about BA and how this offense has performed during his tenure. I mean yeah we've won a superbowl with MT and BA at their respective positions, but we've done it with defense and a qb who makes plays after the original play call breaks down. I think thats where we fail. People say we should be able to score like the pats, saints, and packers, cuz of our talent, but most of our scores happen after the crappy play that was called breaks down and ben shrugs off 3 defenders and throws to a receiver thats been running around for about 20 seconds already. Nothing is ever in rhythym with this offense. And games where we did see rhythym, the pats game this yr, the first half of the afc championship last yr is frustrating to us because if you can do that in those two games, then you can do it all the time. The problem is to BA and to Ben, thats not a sexy offense, so they go back to forcing the deep ball all the time and the result is turnovers, sacks and an inept offense. Next problem the guy whose supposed to say hey enough of this bombs away crap, Tomlin, lets it keep happening. This trio needed to be broken up. One guy down, now lets see if the other 2 can get their act together.
