Have you or would you ever cheer against the Steelers?

Now, this all depends on the situation:

    - If the Steelers lose, then the Ravens, Bengals, or Patriots get eliminated from the playoffs since that team beat us. (This loss will not affect or move us down to a lower playoff seed, we're already locked in)

    - Peyton Manning's last season: I wanted him to finish his career off with a SB win.

    - If the Steelers lose, then they'll get the first overall pick in the draft. (Tanking)

I understand if this doesn't make me a true Steeler fan, but honestly, I see nothing wrong in certain situations, but you may think otherwise.

Have never cheered against them. However, I would have preferred those 8-8 seasons a couple years back were 6-10, 5-11 etc

I tried a few times, betting against them when I was sure they wouldn't cover the spread, but they would cover every time I did so and ended up cheering them on to win regardless, so it was a double FAIL.:eek:

This is a very provocative questions that requires a magnitude of consideration. I hope each true fan of this franchise will take the ample time needed to evaluate each scenario where it would be plausible to cheer against...what I am I saying...hell no!

I've tried to almost every year during the 80s after they were eliminated from playoffs contention. My thoughts were that if they can't possibly make the playoffs then it would be better to tank the rest of the season for better draft position.

I'd turn the games on hoping for a loss, but once the action started I couldn't control myself and found myself cheering them on. I guess the heart overruled the brain. So yes, I've tried rooting against the Steelers but failed.

Well personally, I have some ideas but none really are polished at this current time.

I will get back to you later this week should any major development appears. :)

YES! Lets just say that a scenario unfolds where the Steelers are clinched into the bye and somehow, a loss by us in the last meaningless game puts the Patriots out of the playoffs (for example the Jets NEED to beat us to eliminate the Pats) then I would.

This is like an SNL ‘Da Bears thread. Who do you like in the Indy 500? I gotta go with Mearse. What if da bears were in it? How would day compete? Let’s say they all drove in a big bus. Is Ditka driving? Yes, Dirka would be driving. I gotta go wit da bears.

Change 1st scenario: We lose, YET MAINTAIN 1ST SEED, and Pats get eliminated...

Ok on 3rd scenario since season is a lost cause, but more like hoping, not actively rooting.

Hell no helping anybody else stats (second scenario).

I've never cheered against them, but I've come close to turning on them during hopeless losses directly related to coaching decisions. (with Cowher and Tomlin, Noll didn't always have the talent those two did/do).
