I remember people saying when Jon Kolb was in his prime he would easily bench press 500 lbs along with some other Steeler offensive lineman.

My family and I have had a couple experiences with former players/coaches for the Steelers and others

    - My dad met Bill Cowher and said he talked to him for like 15 minutes and was super friendly. Sent me some pictures from his phone.
    - Brian Billick (Ravens) and John Cooper (Ohio State) play at my golf course a lot and I've talked to them numerous times
    - Kent Graham was a pastor/speaker at a church I went to when I was younger. He was not far removed from pro ball. He was a super nice guy.
    - My brother's best friend spent a lot of time with Le'Veon Bell at MSU and he got to meet him/hang out with him some in college before he was a Steeler. Told me he was a great kid, momma's boy. Told me he was going to be suspended for weed at some point in his career tho lol he was right
    - Mike Adams hung out with a bunch of my roomates and neighbors at Ohio State, so I met him a number of times. Really laid back guy. Wouldn't have seemed like a football player if he wasn't like 6'7'' and huge haha

I've played golf with a good number of pro hockey players. I've also played in tournaments with about a dozen of the players that are ranked in the current World Golf top 100 rankings from my time playing competitive golf. Got to meet Arnie and Jack too which is super cool.

Back in about 1976 or 77 my dad took me to a hunting and fishing camp in western PA. I've been there several times before with him and knew that the place was awesome for catching fish and as an eight year old I was super excited. What he didn't tell me was that there was going to be a bunch of Steelers players and coaches there for a benefit. Jack Ham, Rocky Bleier, Lynn Swann, Mel Bount, Andy Russell and a handful of others were there as well which unfortunately I can't recall all of them though cause it was a perfect day for fishing. I remember being down and the pond and catching a bunch of blue gills and my dad came down and said I should go up there and meet these players. Reluctantly and pretty much pouting I made my way up to the clubhouse. The first person my Dad introduced me to was Chuck Noll and when I shook his hand I had told him that I really wanted to go back fishing. I think he said I understand. It was a long time ago but I remember talking to Mr. Noll for a moment or 2. The rest of the time I was catching fish.

Met Darren Perry in Cincinnati the night before a game against the Bengals. My GF and I stopped in a restaurant downtown and a bunch of Steelers players were there. I walked by and said hi Darren, I hope you have a great game tomorrow. He invited us to sit at his table with him and a trainer so we sat there for about an hour and talked about everything except football. Super nice guy. The next day he had an INT and I told the GF that's who we were sitting with yesterday.

I had lunch with Lynn Swann and his wife in Hermitage when he ran for Governor. I was a local committee officer who volunteered with his campaign. Also I forgot that Antwan Randle-El was our substitute pastor at the church I attended and got to talk to him a few times.

I went to the Masters tourney a few years ago on a Wednesday. They have a member’’s reception on the eve of the tournament and Lynn Swann, who is a member of Augusta, was there. They had the patio area roped off but he was standing there just a few feet away. Pretty neat to get that close to my childhood hero.
