any chance hrapmann makes it? I have heard about a real battle so i dont know if he is getting a real shot. I would like to have a kicker that can kick it out of the endzone.

He can'r be anymore mediocre than Sushi. We have that part covered as long as he's above 70% why not? Plus he has more leg!

I didnt watch all of the Colts game, but what I saw live at the Eagles game from Hrapman didn't impress me too much. He had a tough time getting much air under the ball and most of his warm up kicks were more line drives than anything. Maybe he was just trying something different, idunno. But from what I saw, he wasn't the saviour of the kicking game.

He did look better this week against the Colts than the Eagles game. Obviously going 4/4 on FGs is impressive. I'd have to go back and double check but I'm pretty sure it was him that sailed his last 2 kickoffs way out of the back of the end zone. I like his accuracy, but he's got to show the coaches leg strength too.

I didnt get to see the eagles game, but I think in this one he had three touchbacks with two going out of the endzone. they were line drives but who cares if they cant be returned. I like his leg and I think he had a pretty good college career.

Ok so the kick that was partially blocked, did Hrapman actually hit it well before it was blocked? I couldn't tell if he chunked it and got lucky or if he hit it well and we have the OL to completely blame.

The only concern is how does he kick under pressure. Suisham is battle tested, not saying he is the answer by any means...

the OL is to blame. two guys jumped over our lineman to block the kick. over them. clear over them. no excuse for that.

He hit it well! Had he not, there is no way it would have made it through the uprights. The partial block falls on the line because the guy leap frogged them completely.

He kicked it square on. I don't think we've seen enough from this kid to crown him king yet.
They're going to have a shame filled week for sure for that poor play. Not to mention McCoy let his man blow right by him.

As far as the tipped ball on his last FG, it was the lines fault. Two Colts players completely jumped over the line to get theie hands on the kick. Lines fault all the way. They need to stand up and block those guys trying to leap over them. It even looked like they stepped on their own players backs to get up that high. Very desperate!

But Hrapman looks good. I like him better then Suisham. He put 4 in last night with no problem. I think his kickoffs are longer then Suisham which indicates that his leg is stronger. Right now I give him a leg up on Suisham. The thing for the Steelers to do is to keep Hrapman and cut Suisham. Suisham probably won't get picked up anyway, so he will be available if things don't work out with Hrapman. Even if he does get picked up, there will be other kickers out their if needed. This guy Hrapman comes into Heinz and kicks 4 FG's with no problem. If I'm the Steelers I give this guy every opportunity to kick his way out of the job. If he gets it right, then its his job. They already know what Suisham can do. Thats what they were doing last night, seeing if he could kick at Heinz!

Like I said, if it doesn't work out, then bring Suisham back if he is still available, but you have to start somewhere. Suisham starting kicking when they let Reed go. The kid will learn how to kick while the weather is still nice. I'm rooting for him. So far Hrapman and Butler are doing a great job. Butler punted well again last night. If Kapinos is out this week, its almost not worth bringing him out to kick in the last pre-season game, Butler by default!

I hope Hrapmann makes it - simply because I just can't get excited about Suisham. It's not like Suisham is all that terrible. He's just not all that good. I say give Hrapmann the job - he's cheaper as someone said - and if he can't do it - NEXT!

When I went to training camp, I was pretty impressed with the kid's leg and accuracy. He certainly has more strength than what we have now. So, if it's a toss-up, I'd give it to the rookie. He is certainly at least AS good as Suisham - and if we're lucky, he'll be a ton better.

Thanks for the update. I DVR'd the game and just have not had time to go back and take a look at the final kick. That was pathetic by our OL on that last kick. If all things end up being equal then take the young kid and see how it goes. I certainly like his kickoff ability so much better than Suisham's.

Hrapmann closed with a couple of great kickoffs through the end zone, but he's also had some that didn't even make it into the end zone. From the 35, that's bad. Then again, who knows what instructions he's getting. It's possible that the coaches would like to actually see the kickoff coverage team from time to time.

Suisham was consistently good on kickoffs last year... I'm not sure I understand why people weren't happy with them. The missed field goals I understand. The kickoffs, I don't.

    Right on.

As some have said the Eagles game wasn't his best...but it was his first game. I say let the kid handle ALL the kicks for an entire game (preferably at home) and see how he does.
