Well... Just leave it alone, I'm sure someday whatever it is will be forced upon us as per usual... Until then, status quo

 

Next thing you know they will get rid of the block numbers.

 

No but I was a New Drill Instructor from the same class. Not dumb enough to pi** off the CDI though

 

I would like to see this on the helmet, but one side and if you want an upgrade...tell someone to come up with better fan hats,t shirts,and sweatshirt designs. I don't think anyone would have a problem with this...instead of the plain old logo

 

The only reason the logo was put on the right side originally, was because they werent sure it would look good on the gold helmets, but they changed to the black helmet the following year which high lighted the logo, then they decided to leave it alone, so there wasnt any real debate back in 62 to put it on both sides, they are the only team to have a single logo on their helmets today. I feel that their logo is the teams most recognized signature brand and should be displayed on both sides of the helmet, just because they put it on one side of the helmet 50 plus years ago doesn't mean they cant change it to 2 logos instead of one, disagree all you want I'm sticking to my guns on this one...

If you want to put the logo on both sides of the helmet, that`s fine, that`s your choice.
I disagree with it, tho...

I like the things that make the Steelers unique, among the other 31 teams in this League...
And this is one of them..

I would NOT, however, be adverse to using the 3d logo, that was proposed earlier in this thread,
because, it looks very similar to the original.

And looks a little better(more modern), and although this may be taking things a step too far for the the "traditionalists", (like me)..

I think the helmet would look good in a "diamondplate" paint scheme..

It would still have to be black, but the overall helmet, would have the look of traditional "diamondplate", with the raised "checkmark", or "x`s" pattern, you would find on the stainless steel diamondplate material that is used to protect other surfaces..

I did a good job of something similiar to this, by putting a "pick guard" on a friend`s bass guitar, and just spray painting the guard with flat back, over the "diamondplate"...

It looked cool as hell!!!

I think the helmet would look intimidating, and still be true to our roots..

I`m not an artist, so I don`t know how to do it, but it would look cool as hell!!!!

I always thought the official story on the logo on one side of the helmet was that US Steel came to the Rooney's and asked them to leave it on the one side in an effort to generate buzz for the slumping steel industry.

 

Yeah and while we're at it I think we maybe should change the Terrible Towel to the Sacred Shamwow. I mean I can just see it now when a certain member here has to change his name to SacredShamwowFlying.

 

I would like to see it up close and far away, just to be able to gauge any change in the look. My guess would be at a distance, very hard to tell there was any change, up close it would look cool and updated, but keep original look.
