You ever wonder how not Very good QBs are constantly getting new Offensive Coordinators???
Also they just never seem 2 have weapons.
Yet the pretty good QBs always seem 2 have weapons....even when a team let's their weapons go they just seem 2 magically have more weapons.

Ben could have won more with Tomlin, just sayin.

Kordell also beat New England as well as our {...division rivals...:frustrated:} when it counts.
Slash had zero one & dones.

Kordell did take the team to two AFCCG's, it wasn't all bad.

The defense beat the Patriots in the 1997 playoffs, not Stewart. He made one play all day, the long touchdown run in the first quarter. He and the offense sucked the rest of that game.

Yes, he was the starting quarterback when the Steelers beat the Ravens once in the playoffs, a game thoroughly dominated by the Pittsburgh defense. Stewart completed 12 of 22 passes for 154 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Scintillating.

Didn't he beat the Browns in the playoffs also? Or was it the Bengals?

Haskins must first win the #3 before thinking about #2 ...remember Dobbs is no slouch

The loser for the #3 QB competition will be on the practice squad anyway...

In that Patriot playoff game the Steelers won 7-6. Stewart was 14 for 31 with 134 yards and a pick. He had a terrible day but the defense only gave up 2 FG's the whole game.
In the 28-3 playoff loss to the Patriots on 01/05/97, Stewart came in for Mike Tomczak and went 0 for 10 passing. That isn't a misprint, he didn't complete a frickin pass. In the AFC title game against the Patriots, Stewart was 24 for 42 for 255 yards, zero TD's and 3 picks. Including 2 interceptions on the Steelers last 2 drives of the game.
Let's stop with all this nonsense about Stewart being a good QB he was well below average. He was benched for Kent Graham, that's all you need to know.

Stewart was on the roster but didn't play in the Steelers wild 36-33 playoff win against the Browns. That was Tommy Maddox. The Steelers also beat the Browns in the playoffs in 1995 but that was with NOD.
The Steelers are 2-0 against the Bengals in the playoffs. Both of those wins were with Ben at QB.

No. Stewart started five games in 2002, but Tommy Maddox was the starter most of that season, including the playoff victory over the Browns.

Stewart started four playoff games at quarterback for the Steelers, and he didn't play particularly well in any of them.

Maddox's best season was the first season because teams were stacking nine guys in the box to stop Bettis and leaving Ward and Plax go. The next year it was Tommy Gun offense and with out the threat of Bettis wearing down your defense the passing attack sputtered. It wasn't until late in the season Cowher got back to ground and pound from the start. I don't think it was so much about the WR's ability just not putting them in positions to excel under Stewart.

Yeah he gave up a few turnovers and points in this game as well but they came back in the end.

I think that's the part on Kordell people are not putting together

If you love him....I think he was pretty good too

If you hate him.... you certainly have a case to back up your thoughts

And despite the opinion that he was horrible...he is v still the 3rd best QB IN Steeler history.

The point being overlooked? There is a big difference between being QB1 and being THE FRANCHISE.... THE FRANCHISE is very hard to find

So you should enjoy BEN while you can... because in the history of the Steelers... they found 2. Might be longer than you think to find a 3rd one.

He certainly had moments. I was focusing on the playoffs, where he really wasn't good.

Kordell had his good moments. It wasn't all bad. Kordell couldn't maintain the consistent necessary to develop into a true franchise QB. He teased the coaches and fan base with his potential.

I also believe losing Thigpen hurt Kordell's career. They seemed to have good chemistry. Some off the field stuff probably effected Kordell's career on the field.

Haskins and Rudolph pretty much have almost the same amount of game experience in the league. Ruldolph in the league one year longer and has more experience in the Steelers offense and WR's. Haskins could win the job in camp and in preseason. It will be interesting to see how the battle develops through camp and preseason.

    Kordell had the Bus.
It could be that teams just didn't respect Kordell in the Passing games.

I dunno. If Haskins has real talent and can’t beat out a guy who’s a 4-yr journeymen who has far less game experience, I don’t see the point in continuing the Haskins experiment.

If Dobbs at age 26, can’t make the roster. And you have a guy who’s 2 yrs younger and a far better pedigree that you can develop, I don’t see the point of continuing the Dobbs experiment.

Put someone on the PS that’s an OL or an LB or a DB, who might actually develop into something.

Dobbs may have more value to the coaches on the roster simulating Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, etc than keeping Haskins would have. But they have preseason to figure it out.
