Berry's outpunting Harvin in terms of average yards per punt AND net punting average

And we spent a draft pick on Harvin. Why?

Berry currently has three more yards per punt than Harvin. There's more to punting that this stat, but of course you knew that.

My advice? Do your own research and quit choking the board with threads like these.

The answers to questions like this aren't hard to find.

I did my own research. Berry's better in net punting average too. That's the most important stat, Thor.

There's is literally no punting metric where Harvin is outperforming Berry this year.

If that's your view, it shows a very stunted understanding of analytics.

Ok Mr. Moneyball, tell me one relevant punting stat where Harvin is doing better than Berry this year. I'll wait.

Steelers need to get the punter from my Alma mater Matt Araiza. He punts and kicks FGs. And can kick a ton.

I'm not doing your homework. If you want to make a statement, it's your job to support it.

So, the rest of the board will wait. For a long time, I imagine.

I already did my homework. I looked up punting stats and put forth the 2 most relevant ones. You on the other hand are making an assertion and not backing it up.

I think we’re all just frustrated. I mean Steelers had high hopes for Harven and he’s been very inconsistent at best

Well, I'm not junking up the board with threads of shallow opinions with no stats.

Look, it's fine to have an opinion. I'm just asking you have a bit of depth, especially for as many threads as you create. The sea of threads make it difficult for those who are trying to reference a past conversation.

Harvin should be removed; I'm guessing they are giving him a mulligan as a rookie, but I think next year there will be no second chances.

Here you go, Mr. Thor - analytics guru:

    Tonight's game:

Harvin - 6 punts for 258 yards, average of 43 yards. 1 inside the 20, long of 49.
Berry - 3 punts for 146 yards, average of 48.7 yards. 1 inside the 20, long of 51.

Berry had 5.7 yards better per punt, 33% inside the 20 vs 16% for Harvin and had a longer long punt. Berry was literally better in every facet of punting tonight. Got a smart response to that?

Come tell me about how Harvin was better in some quasi-emotional punting stat that I somehow missed in the box score.

The stupid stubborn Steelers way means that no matter how much he sucks he's going to stick because they spent draft capital on him. It's much easier to bench an undrafted player (as almost ALL punters should be).

Well, that's easy. Do you have the respective punt positions for every Harvin and Berry punt this year? Because, you know, the further to the opponent's territory, the less field you have to work with. Or hadn't you thought of that?

Again, I get what you're saying. Harvin - alone in his situations - has been inconsistent this year. But that's far removed from a Dollar General statement questioning why we took him over Berry.

twice we got rid of berry the first time the guy we kept got replaced by berry after a short while. we replaced berry again and now we are bringing in another punter. i agree benny. we also got rid of ingram, now we need ingram and have a couple of times. we got rid of berry because his net was down, compared to others in the league and being inconsistent. we have the same problem but worse with harvin. let's not forget our kicker that missed as well. he missed an extra point last week too and then kicked the ball out of bounds right after that. these things hurt a team.

Picking Harvin demonstrates that lessons learned regarding drafting ST players does not exist on this team. Then again, we were so deep in all other positions that there were no other possible players that could have contributed except ST's. The Wad Chewer is another coach that needs to find another occupation on another team. DS knows that this gig he has with us is his highwater mark and his next stop is in HS football as an equipment manager apprentice. He bounces around the sideline like some toddler on a sugar high that I supposed is to inspire players with his enthusiasm or what not. I guess a lot of ST coaches do this because they are stressing the importance of this area of the game, but he is not the answer. Team needs an enema.
