Steelers Fired Matt Canada One Year Ago Today: Some Numbers - Steelers Depot

 

This is a national day of celebration, my brothers and sisters!

I completely understand showing some level of grace with NFL coaches, and Mike Tomlin has specifically earned the right to do so with his coordinators, but allowing Matt Canada to be the OC for TWO AND A HALF YEARS was unbelievable. I don't think Pickett was ever destined to be more than a middling QB, but what a colossal waste of time Canada was. Arthur Smith isn't perfect, but dammit, do I love watching a capable offense every Sunday.

Isn't he the last Steelers Coach to be fired since World War II?!


That truly is unheard of indeed. That said, this move should have been made prior to the start of the 2023 Season. Not saying that would have saved Kenny Pickett but the Offense may have looked a lot better if the Steelers would have hired an OC outside the building.
