So now even Haley has debunked the disgruntled Ben myth, still wont help but nice to see the myth shot full of holes from various sources this week. I also liked this part...

While Haley said preventing the quarterback from taking hits is ''always an emphasis,'' he didn't sound as if he was making any directives aimed at forcing Roethlisberger to stay more in the pocket or get rid of the ball earlier.

''It's one of the best things he does, and it's what separates him from all the other guys in the league for the most part,'' Haley said. ''So you don't want to take that great ability away from him.''

So many people want to take away the best part of Bens game, glad Haley isn't one of them. In fact, instead of focusing on making him a pocket QB, they should roll him out a heck of a lot more, that's when he's most lethal.

That's a refreshing story, but how would it blow up in our faces? Like a jinx?
Yeah, that was cool to read. It was also good to see him saying~
That's one thing that has put up a yellow flag in my mind in the recent past, so it's great to hear him acknowledge that. I'll elaborate- many people say that Haley is great at utilizing the tools he has, (myself not excluded) so why would he be quick to suppress one of the major strengths of his Quarterback? I'm glad that he sees that our offense can be better and more efficient if we protect the QB and give him a pocket to work in, but I'm also glad that he realizes that his QB is one of the best at extending the play. Our improved Oline, along with intelligent play calling (not repeatedly going 00 personnel on 3rd and short behind a broken line) along with intelligent play design, should naturally reduce a good percentage of the need to scramble from the pocket and extend the play. Man I'm excited for this season. :clapping:

Exactly, some people just need something to ***** about and are never happy. So, it doesn't matter what Haley or Ben say, some will just continue to spin it out of control and produce an un needed soap opera and only choose to hear what they want to hear anyways but its nice to hear Haley say this.

I have said all along, Haley isn't going to say to Ben, hey don't scramble around at all if you are getting pressured. We don't want that. He is saying, here are you options first, if they aren't available then make something happen, but we don't want to design plays which are dependent upon you creating something with your feet.

Scramble...yes. Plays that run guys 40 yards down the field with and oline that can only hold them back 2 seconds...dumb.

I noticed this statement from the article:

"Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has repeatedly expressed consternation about the transition to a new system after playing in virtually the same offense under coordinators Ken Whisenhunt and Bruce Arians the first eight years of his career."

    He HAS????????

Nice Article....What I take from reading between the lines....

Haley has a nice system and he is doing everything he can to help the guys get it....He is also building the QB'S confidence just as he should be...

I am sure he is teaching a progressive system to Ben,so of course it makes no sense to make Ben hurry to get the ball out or speed up the play at this time....Ben must have a good grasp 1st. then he will teach him the timing of when certain and specific routes should come open....After that is when he will Teach the scramble drill and show the WR'S and the QB where and when the extended routes will come open....

Haley is a very good OC and our O will reflect his knowledge as long as the guys play the way he expects..
Be physical... My take is Ol,TE'S,WR'S and RB'S
Be Smart.....Everyone esp. the QB...The better decisions he makes the smarter the others will look..
Be Disciplined...Applies to all ....Don't take plays off...If it''s a PA then sell the fake,if your running a decoy route ,run it just like it's real...If your job is to block then keep your hands inside..No after the play BS to get you behind the chains....I could write a book for this 1 ,but you get the point....Basically he is saying if you will do these things for me I will put you in the best possible situation to succeed.....

He wanted to check he was using it in the "cerebral" sense.

Not to knock the insight here, but are there seriously any OC's in the NFL who aren't telling their players all these things right now?

No knock at all ,but we all know at least 1.....I am sure there are some vet OC'S with tenure just going through the motions...I am sure there are some younger OC'S who are nervous as hell at this point....
Also in the new age of Passing ,I am sure there is a few OC'S besides BA who have forgot all about the physical part...But I do get your point....LOL...

Or maybe he's just giving one of those lame, professional, boring, leader type answers that the fans want to hear.

Man, I hope you and Haley are both right. :hello:

How would this blow up in our face? Teams switch OC's all the time. Haley is a smart guy and knows how to run an offence. I do think Ben is going to have growing pains, but we'll be fine. I agree that Ben scrambles well so Haley can't take that away from him, but like Greg Cosell says "Improvisation is random and arbitrary, and random and arbitrary aren't good in the game of football." We want designed plays with precise timing. Roll Ben out, but we do need to stop the scrambling as much as possible, because although Ben is good at it, it's not a reliable way to get first downs.
