One interesting thing that we don't get to see much because we don't have a lot of turnover in the organization is anytime there's a new hire, you see guys bring players/coaches that they've worked with in the past. Mewelde Moore was a great example of a solid role-player that Tomlin liked in Minnesota and brought here.

I checked out free agents from Arizona and KC to see who's there...
    • WR - Dwayne Bowe (no way, too expensive)
    • CB - Brandon Carr (not leaving KC)
    • FB - Le'Ron McClain (really fell off in KC, but still only 27, and it could be a position of need)
    • NT - Kelly Gregg (nice backup, but he's 36)
    • G - Deuce Lutui (Could be nice depth, but we need starters)

Any other names I'm not thinking of?

I'd take Le'Ron McClain, he wants playing time though as a starter...

I'd take McClain to compete for the full back position but that's about it.

What full back position? This team doesn't have one and who knows if they will bring in a legitimate FB.

It could be they will not bring in a FB. I read somewhere that Haley's offensive scheme does NOT include the use of a full back either. I don't know that to be true but if so there's going to be a lot of upset folks on here.

I think guys that want McClain for his blocking ability would be disappointed. He's an average run blocker... He's more RB than FB in my opinion.

I read an article during the season (sorry, no link) but it was about how FB's are a dying breed in the NFL and all but phased out. Does anyone here find that to be true? Obviously we don't use one but have people noticed that with other teams as well?

Not sure how many teams use them, but the NY Giants use one, Henry Hynoski (former pitt player), effectively, and they just won the super bowl... while all the "elite" passing teams stayed at home watching.

Johnson is used as a fullback on the majority of plays he's in the game. He just stinks.

That said, I always thought of McClain as a RB.

The Ravens & Texans both use a blocking FB.

*Sorry for the duplicate post. I couldn't figure out how to delete it once I added the following.*

And they were 32nd in the NFL in team rushing, and 32nd in yd/carry. The Giants were 5th in Passing, you can decide if they makes them an 'elite' passing team or not. But, they were not some Bus-era throwback power running team, despite what people seem to think.

32nd in yards, but 6th in rushing TD's... Last I checked, scoring was the objective of offense. 32nd in yards with your primary back injured most of the season, but still 6th in scoring rushing TD's... that equates to "effective" running.

HAHAHA! It was John McClain killing terrorists. Shirley McClaine has been killing masculinity with chick flicks for like 150 years.
