There is no disagreeing about it. Some people tried to say Ben ran the team. why is B.A gone, is Ben drafting and restructuring contracts also? If that is not the definition for ignorance then what is? I call it like I see it.

i don't think he will be ready. complete reconstruction is not a hopeful sign of him being what he once was in that amount of time.

+1. I'd be shocked if Mendenhall wasn't on the PUP list come week one.

Of course you are, but this is a very friendly site with mostly friendly members. Why not make your point in a little less condescending manner? Lets keep this site friendly.

It's about time we get some trolls back!
I really miss that patsie fan troll, a few years ago. I think he was the one that wanted to meet some of us at a hote(after a game @ Heinz) to kick our butts.
There was a certain ratbird troll, that was kind of fun, because you could tell he was just some kid.

    Aaahh, the good ol' days.

-Have you seen the way he cusses and embarrasses his players during a game? Ben isn't exactly the 3 step drop QB and the ball is out. How many times have you heard the WR's say, they don't even run their intended routes that good because it just ends up being school yard football. This is Ben and it isn't going to change and I think it's going to bother Haley a lot. Do you not see a concern for this?

-Rooney is saying he wants to be the old run team that we were, many of you say you want to run the ball more. Seeing how much influence Rooney is having in these types of decisions as of late, I think he will get what he wants.

-If Colbert gets a pass then why didn't Arians get a pass? And I believe we won those Superbowls because of Ben, he is our franchise QB and we all seen with the Colts what happens to a Super Bowl contender when they lose their franchise QB.

-Troy is my favorite player after Big Ben, but I am a realist. For every great play he makes, he find himself out of position for 5 plays. He is a good player, he just isn't the super man everyone thinks he is anymore.

    - Timmons is the only one who is half way decent. Just cuz Harrision had the SB interception doesn't make him good at pass defense. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

-I have never recalled Rooney getting so involved in these types of decisions. Calling for an old school running game when we have such great young WR's and a QB and Mendanhall as our starting RB. Seems to me he is just letting all the fans who still think its the 70's get in his ear.

-When we get a Ray Rice, Arian Foster, or Frank Gore then I might see your point on being a running team, but at this point we are not and Rooney has made it clear he wants to be a running team.

-I am a lifelong Steeler fan, I was a member of the Official Steelers MB since it started well over a decade ago. I am not here to make best friends. I barely made any marks that could be considered insulting anyone but look at all the insults I received in the replies. I am entitled to my opinion as everyone else, but look how many people actually made a reply discussing my concerns out of 19 of them. Mostly just insults and ignorant comments.

Dude, I could fill a dozen books with all the nonsensical, pessimistic, skeptical, and downright ridiculous posts' you have made over the years.

I never said we sucked, in fact I said we will make the playoffs again and again. But what Steeler fan wants to settle for that?

If you are such a realist then get real.

I am not here to make friends, I am here to discuss football. And do you really think Rooney is reading this thread and stomping his foot cuz I made him mad?

No, actually I had to get up early today. And if it seems like a lot for my first post, it's because I have had a lot to say and have not posted on a MB in awhile, although I have been reading this one for awhile.

We didn't get to either SB or win the SB in 08 due to our offence. Arians is no more a reason for the SB win than individual special teams players are. If not for our record setting defence in 2008, we don't even make it to the SB, because our offence was pathetic.[/quote:rmnj3jvx]

Are you kidding me? Ben and the offense made several big plays for us to even make it the SB. You need to go back and watch both of the playoff runs and see just how successful our offense really was. You just lost all credibility with me over that statement.

Multiple Superbowl appearances obviously wasn't good enough for Arains was it.[/quote:2cvyqb1g]

Let me put it this way - some of your points are worthy of debate, and others are way out on a limb. However, overall they paint a picture that is way gloomier than is realistic. I'm not interested in doing a point by point rundown. Rather, I will simply point out that every team in the NFL has flaws. This is the salary cap era where you can't build a true dynasty. Every off-season teams have to make tough personnel decisions, and in some cases tough decisions on coaches. Arians punched his ticket out of town with questionable situational play calling and not playing to the strength of his personnel on a consistent basis. The fact that they made the move shows that upper management understands that they have to take some steps to move forward. Hotheadedness aside, Haley has a history of running his offense in a way that best utilizes the talent on the roster. In Arizona he threw it a lot because of the QB and weapons that he had to work with. In KC, he recognized what he had in Jamaal Charles, and made him a star. I feel pretty good about the hiring. I don't think we'll run more, but we will run smarter. He will design running plays that utilize our players' strengths.

Are there issues with the team? Yes. Are there more issues than other teams face? No. We are right there as one of the odds-on favorites for next year for a good reason.

Actually, I agree with about half of this Kevin guys stuff. I guess it's his tone and lack of positives that is rubbing people the wrong way.

This part isn't too far off or has some merit (IMO): "Why do we get these huge offensive linemen who can't pass block and the rest of our offense is built for passing the ball. (Lately)

Everyone wants to give the defense a pass because they are always top ranked. but yet when we play a good offense we can't stop anyone. (not exactly true, even good defenses get scored on) Sorry, but LeBeau is very, very old and is stuck in his ways and does not like to change or adapt (this does bother me a lot). If Arians had to go then LeBeau should of been right there with him. (he's on meth here though)

And, everyone wants to give the GM Colbert so much credit due to his 1st round draft picks, but what about the other 6 rounds? (true)They are pretty much terrible, our DB's are booty.

I know somehow we will make the playoffs again and again cuz that is what we do but there are (still) a lot of concerns right now."

I think he's related to Ariens....

Hey Kevin everybody has a right to their opinions but it was you that started the name calling in your OP by calling others ignorant. Just because some think differently than you doesn't mean they're worthy of being called ignorant. P.S. By any chance are you Kevdude from the old message board?

I understand that a few of my concerns may be considered "out on limb" by the majority, but that is how I see them. I love Troy to death, but he really does make a lot of mistakes, and I have felt Casey Hampton has been almost worthless for the last 5 years. I don't gives free passes to anyone based on their name or public perception, I call it like I see it.

I understand every team has flaws, most of them have more than us. But the Steelers are the only team I give a crap about.

Head Coach and the players wanted Arians to stay, Rooney let the public perception get in his hear and made his decision based on that.
I don't pretend to know what plays or being called by Arians or when Ben is using an audible. It's easy to judge something in hindsight. What I do know is that the relationship he had with his team is hard to come by. They know, trust , and play hard for each other.
I do know, he's been to two super bowl's. I don't see LeBeau getting lynched when he calls the same old gameplan.
I don't see Tomlin being lynched for not changing the mistakes made by his coordinators, he is the Head Coach afterall.

Has a O.C ever been fired (pushed out) after going 12-4, after being in the Superbowl 2 out 5 of his years? ( 40%)
This is the kind of thing we laugh at Jerry Jones for

I also disagree with you about Haley utilizing Charles. He had a very high YPC in 2010 but yet he rarely gave him the ball.
And this past year he had no choice but to use Charles due to the public and the decline of Thomas Jones.
Let's not forget the beginning of the year where they got crushed their first four, including 48-3 by Detroit. They had a healthy Cassel and Charles at that point. And in Arizona, one would have to be an official moron not to pass the ball with Warner, Fitz, and Boldin, while Beanie Well was hurt all the time.

Future Odds don't mean much. I am sure the Giants weren't favored to win, nor the Colts to suck so bad or the Broncos to beat us in the playoffs. It's all public perception and I don't let the public form my opinions. Try placing a $100 on all the favorites ATS and see how much money you lose.

I hope all of you are right and I am wrong, I hope Haley and Ben get along and we are able to run the ball more effectively and we win us another Superbowl. But it's off-season right now and all that is just hope and these are valid concerns to me.

My overall point is that I have a lot of concerns with this team, especially with how Haley will change our team chemistry.

I am sorry you are getting all of this at once, but like I said I have not posted on a MB in over a year.
