Just read an interesting article that cited 5 close sources (undisclosed) to the Steelers who think the Steelers will make a switch during the bye week :hmmm:

Not so sure about that and who knows who these sources are that know the Steelers so well but this is part of the article:

"This is very likely to be a moot point because I don’t see it happening. I surveyed 15 Steelers’ journalists, bloggers and commenters on whether the Steelers would make this move during the bye week. Ten of those surveyed said ‘no’ but I was really surprised to see five say ‘yes’ the move is imminent.
These are five individuals who know the Steelers extremely well so I was taken aback by their thoughts. Whether or not they turn out correct will not be known until after the Minnesota game so we can all breathe easy for now."

Interesting read and good point on how things could go from bad to worse if they do fire Haley.

Was one of those who answered yes Ed Bouchette? If so I wouldn't put much stock in it. Lol

The thing is Kirby was their guy in the first place so his replacement is already there. If Kirby could take what Haley wants to do and what arians wants to do and combined them I think our o would be pretty fierce.

I wanted Kirby or Fichtner for that reason. I don't think things would get worse, I think they would go back to what they are familiar with and I'd just hope Kirby is a better situational play caller then BA was.

Yep, was his job until he was hurt in that fire. No speculation about it.

Maybe the fan part was untrue, but the speculation part wasn't.

Bouchette is blasted on here a lot, and in fact, was trashed in this very thread. Sorry, just because Bouchette said it doesn't make it true. If they wanted him that bad, why not bring in a temporary guy until Kirby was better, then he could take over the job.

It was widely reported. It was just easy for me to grab that tweet.

Aside from that, it's easy to discern what's spinning and what's reporting.

Also I love how we blast Bouchette over the Ben and Bell story, but take him at his word on this one.

    LOL!

This cracks me up. This was written by SteelDad from SteelCityBlitz. I chat with him often on twitter and e-mail. Guess what... I WAS ONE OF THOSE POLLED!

The people saying Haley will go aren't some insiders close to the Steelers.

I didn't even look to see who wrote it, so this guy just goes around making false claims? Ive heard of him but don't really know anything about him.

This would be totally out of character for the Rooney's. I mean way out. Going way back to the Noll days, I cannot remember them firing an OC during the year. I could be wrong, but I simply cannot remember it.

Doesn't fit with the Rooney image they have of letting the coach(es) hang around forever. It is not their MO and since when have they ever listened to the fan base? Who new of Cowher or Tomlin before they were hired? Everyone else was pointing at others and then they pull the rabbit out of the hat.

It could happen, but it would be a shocker given the history of the Rooney's. I don't thing Haley is the problem. Of course, he is the guy walking around with the bullseye on his back, but he is not the problem. He is an easy out and it would appear the Steelers were trying to get things fixed, but that is a knee jerk reaction.

It is sort of like at a business where it is screwed up and management is to blame, but instead of firing one of the managers or say presidents or CEO's, they look for a lower management person and throw him under the bus. Throwing him under the bus does not solve the problem since the problem really is with those doing the firing, but it makes an impression on the other workers and lets them know their jobs are at risk too unless they step it up.

So, short of fixing the real issue(s), firing Haley is nothing more than a publicity stunt that will keep the talking heads at ESPN and the NFL network in a lather. Meanwhile, the dam is still leaking and no one wants to do the heavy lifting to fix the real problems.

Lastly, let's say they hose Haley. What then if the Steelers continue to lose? But if it will make folks happy and hope for good things in their Christmas stockings, well then let's break out the egg nog.

Please. It took 3 straight years of garbage situational playcalling for the Rooneys to finally get rid of Arians. Haley aint going anywhere any time soon and for good reason. The Steelers don't knee jerk react.

I don't see how this is Haley's fault. Anyone can see the Steelers are thin most positions this year, and we have key injuries at most of them.

I'm sure Tomlin would love to can Haley for Kirby though.
