Just breaking down the Haley comments and looking at our Teams strengths...
Haley talks about his diffrernt styles of runners,he talks about guys who can move the pile..With that said this is what I see coming...
We know they have switched to a 3-4 ,we also know their DT'S and OLB'S like to get up the field and rush the passer....So as I stated in the other thread this game comes down to a A Gap Battle...The team that wins that battle will win the War....There are a few reasons why...

If we can push them off the LOS and our Power RB'S who are more than capable of moving the pile, and they do indeed move the pile, the Broncs will have to adjust....When they do adjust now this puts BB in an ideal situation,he now has a exrta second to thow the PA and our Receiving corp has a extra step to get open....

Another big help to this scheme is it gets guys from the D guessing on where and to who the play is coming to....For example if we get control of the A gap early then when we go Rocket then the D is already wanting to jump the A gap to stop you know who, this creates space for both TE'S and all the WR'S....It also creates a natural edge for a punt return,I expect Rainey to take a swing pass,Reverse, or a screen to the house...I would bet on it....So that's 7 points we have in the bag for sure IMO...I also expect the A gap run to give us 14 Points just running it in,and another 7 points at least off PA...

28 points scored just like that not counting possible points from the other 2 phases of the game....We will revisit this and see how it compares....Mark my words rhe 3-4 of the Broncs can not stop the A Gap and when they don't it will open up the playbook...

Following up on that idea, I think BB is doubtful for the game.

we don't have to worry about peyton running like we had to do with tebow. we are alot healthier now then the end of the season last year. jeeeezzz. we lost to oakland back in 1970, so i guess we can't ever beat them again. c'mon man.

loosening up the outsides will also free up the pressure on that A gap. there's alot of ways to do it. we have max blocking too. we will have to use heath as a 2nd tackle and max is weaker in the run game too. he struggled against denver last year badly. we have to back off the LB'ers first i would think. best case scenario would be use both and keep them guessing. we know rainey will make them have to cover either side of the field when he's in the backfield. pluses and minuses with each too.

I hate to use Tomlinisims but I truly believe the Standard is the Standard. When one of the players goes down the replacement is capable and suppose to fill in adequately.

Chris Carter is not James Harrison but I think everyone will be presently surprised at how well he fills in. If Mendy does not play we have both Redman and Dwyer and then options with Rainey. All very capable.

Ryan Clark is about the only player I see a larger drop off with our replacements. We will put up alot of points on the donkeys. I am thinking like PWP at least 28

Some good points. One advantage is going to be the difficulty for Denver's defense to prepare for this game. You can game plan for Manning and McCoy's offense with film study, but Denver will be the first to see this offense. Expect to see a variety of personnel packages, various run looks, quickly timed routes, some PA and probably a trick play or two. I'm not sure why some people think it's going to be a replay of the playoff loss to Denver. We're a different team this time with different match ups. On a side note, it's Dick LeBeau's 75th birthday on Sunday. :-D

Who is not playing in this game that didn't play in the playoff game?

Seems like the same people. Clark and Harrison are out. Wasn't they out last year?

Mendenhall was out and Colon. We added Colon should have a better offensive line then last year. They couldn't stop Redman in that game and we added Rainey and a determine Dyer.

I do worry about our oline. But I worry about them every year.

I remember Red doing well also. I just hope he can hold up with all that groin stuff he's got going on.

Yeah, I think Carter will bring it in Harrison's absence. He has some good explosion upfield and will help pinch the pocket on Manning.

The d-line is healthy; it was not last year. It is also better. McClendon and Hayward had a year to develop.

The key to beating a team with a great passing attack is the play of the nickel defense; it is the base. I am uncertain about our nickel up front (6).

Does Manning have enough weapons to force the Steelers in nickel most of the game? Will Manning be sharp 4 quarters?

The defense as it is now would destroy the Bronco's from last year's playoffs with Tebow.

Manning will, and I mean WILL keep 7 in to block most passing snaps( asside from distance). That 7 th or 8 th guy is a check/ release man. That's where manning makes a killing. Getting corners and safteies to bite on a swing/ release man is his game.

We need to play as much zone as possible and a diciplined one at that.

We can and have beaten manning. His first few preseason games he looked awful. The talking heads will say he has his strength back but I ask you to look at the balls thrown. It's not Peyton. No zip and a weak spiral on his throws. He is not the same QB.

The broncos will be the 4 th seed in the playoffs, most likely playing us again. That's when I'll be worried. When it all, possibly, comes back to him. Right now he is still a top 8 option at QB not a top 3.

    Peyton has dropped off.

Interesting thought from PWP.... except that from everything I can tell, Denver is still running a 4-3 defense. Below is a link to their own depth chart - plus I read an article dated a few weeks ago in which Fox scoffed at the idea that they switch to a 3-4. Perhaps I've missed something as I haven't scouted the Broncos, but I still see them running a 4-3.

Different defensive game plan this time around, Lebeau had the guys stay back more in case teblow ran. There were so many chances for the LBs to attack Teblow but they all stayed back. Also this time around we'll have a healthier Woodley, in that final game we lost the Beard to a hamstring, lost Starks and Hampton. If James can't play I'm not worried, Carter has been looking good, that guy is quick!

rainey will be key in this one. he, like wallace does , will take defenders away from other players. ben has to find them. our 2nd TE will be key also. we will have to waste a guy helping max but they have to cover rainey left or right out of the backfield which can open up alot of field. they can't keep up with our speed this year.

I just keep following you around man and agreeing with you. It might be because your Canadian lol. JK..

Tebow is more a threat in some respects because of his mobility. You could tell last year they did not plan a defensive game to beat his arm .. With Manning you know he is going to try the dink and dunk all day long and he is going to stay in the pocket. No fear of him taken off for big runs

I"m glad someone else pointed this out because I was watching him as well and his balls was fluttering like ducks. The media has hyped him up but he didn't look that good. It was several quarterbacks during the preseason that I thought looked better.

IMO there were a few key turning points in the Denver playoff game.

    1. The Steelers dominated the 1st quarter no the field, but only ended up getting 2 FGs. Our inability to do anything upon getting to the red zone hurt us.

    2. The 1st half of the 2nd quarter changed the game. 30 yard TD early for Denver. Then our offense had a possession with a TOTAL time of possession of 15 seconds. Look at that again. 15 seconds. It was maybe our worst possession of the year. BA rather than controlling the game used the possession to try to grab the lead back quickly. A pass to the middle to David Johnson of all people. Then deep to Wallace, then deep to Sanders. All passes incomplete. Denver then ran 4 plays....1 long pass...and scored again. Instead of a 6-0 Steeler lead, it is suddenly 14-6 Denver. Ben then gets picked giving up a FG.

    3. The 3rd quarter we regrouped at halftime obviously. Denver gets the ball and just chews clock. 5 minutes to move the ball 43 yards. We take about the same to get a TD. The score now is reachable for us. 17-14. Denver again chews the rest of the quarter up.

Those 2 quarter to me sort of define the game. We won the 1st and 4th, they won the 2nd and 3rd, but I still think we did it to ourselves. How in the world do you have possession which is only 15 seconds long? Run the ball just 1 time....just 1 and you get a longer possession than that. Oh yeah, in that 15 seconds and 3 plays from scrimmage....ZERO yards, not a 1.

First of all PWP, With Jack Del Rio formally of Jacksonville as the new D-Coordinator, they have switch to a 4-3 defense from the 3-4. Dumervil will still have his hand on the ground and will rush the passer. Von Miller will rush the passer as an OLB. But the key to this game is two things:

1 - The steelers must win the time of possession game and keep Manning on the sidelines watching the game. However they do it, they need to control the clock.

2 - They must sack Manning, keep pressure on him and put him on his back.

If they do those two things, they win the game easily! You can come up with all this other safisticated stuff that you want, however if they don't do those two things, they will lose.

I forgot to say one other things that is very important. Actually it will take 3 things to win this game.

    3 - They must score TD's and not FG's!

That's what I remember too. It seemed at first like Red was set to have a big day and then all of a sudden we're just playing retarded BA ball again. Maybe that's just the perception of the game I have in my mind but still that is the way I remember it. I would venture a guess that Mr. Rooney also remembers it that way as well given that it was BA's last game here. If we had somehow managed to go on to win the Super Bowl or even just the Denver game would he have survived or was Mr. Rooney's mind already made up?
