I posted this in a different thread, but should post it here as well.

No news out there on anything about a line coach. Whoever posted that link posted a picture. Not a newspaper link

Mudd's oline was terrible this year, not a knock on him but like us he got hit with the injury bug, he retired for good after this season and will be 71 years old next month so he is probably glad to go home for good. When oline coaches have a good season it's usualy because they have the same unit playing together for 16 games, the niners have been solid on the line this year because they havent had any major injury set backs, and the good lines have solid depth to fill in when they do, we on the other hand have been struggling on the oline for so long it's almost a given every year we will struggle there again...

he retired the year before last too and came back. he is younger then DLB. DLB makes him look like a spring chicken. mudds been a good o-line coach for a long,long,long...... time though. we heve gotten alot more mobile then in the past, i think it's going to work much better for us. young yes, but that doesn't mean bad, just young. it's not like they haven't played football though for they're whole lives.

:this!: I was right behind the chargers bench in that game and got to watch him in action close up. He appeared to be coaching them up pretty good. A lot of talking and side meetings when their defense was playing. Our defense never came close to Rivers and they ran better then we did. They also had the benefit of a good play calling and game plan with their short drop backs and quick throws. I liked what I saw that day.

I think that had more to do with our uninspired inconsistent crap play that we saw so much of last season. Rivers was sacked 49 times last year and except for a couple games, the line played poorly overall, it mentions it in the link I posted. But, leading up to last year, SD's line has done very well, again, according to the link, I don't follow SD enough to know first hand. Last year though they dealt with a ton of injuries, like we did so I think he deserves a little bit of a pass for their overall play.
