No, but I doubt he’s speculating.

I think it’s funny when players blow up these reports.

He is speculating. But, I see the logic in it. Haden's hit in '21 will be $16 million: VW's, a little over $6 million. Haden's on the back 9 of his career, VW is nothing more than a run stopper who was on the field for only 11% of the teams defensive snaps last year. They can likely sign Sutton cheaper, and bring in an FA that is younger and cheaper than Vince. They could potentially replace both players for half or so of their collective cap hit. Does it translate to an improvement for the defense? Probably not, but both transactions would be fiscally responsible.

I'd say he's about to tap in on 17. He's 32 and was never very athletic to begin with. I think, due to his experience, can hang another year. After that...

I was referring to Haden, he’s probably saying that because he knows him and Vince are staying.

    I agree Clayton is speculating.

You save 7 mil by cutting Haden and 4 mil by cutting Williams.

Cutting the best corner on this team would be mindless. I believe he will get an extension to help the cap. Now Nelson is a different matter especially if they want to try to retain Sutton. Not that I am dissing Nelson and would be glad if he was on the team for 2021. They could extend Nelson for another year.

As far as Vince Williams is concerned I believe it would shave 4 mill off the cap. They could ask him to take a pay cut possibly. Going to be a lot of cap casualties across the NFL so they might be able to find an upgrade for the same money.

Just jump from the triangle, better to take you frustrations out on 3 rivers as opposed to 1.

Yep, someone straightened me pout on Haden's cap hit on another thread. I'm not a student of the cap, lol. He said $6 million for Joe, then they might as well keep him.

Right on, read the wrong column. Either way, they can still get someone cheaper that might be more versatile. All VW is now is a run stuffer. Tomlin himself would be better in pass coverage.

One player i believe you need on the roster if you want to be competitive at all this year.

Haden was a great pickup for this organization. I still can't believe they went out and got him like they did solid move by Colbert and Co.

I don't think Clayton ever suggested otherwise, but Haden could absolutely be speculating. The team wouldn't tell him they are going to cut him until they actually made a decision. They could certainly go to him asking him to restructure his deal or take a pay cut, then cut him if he refuses.

Could be but I doubt it. Don’t think he tweets that out if he didn’t already know. They could already be working on his restructuring his contact, thats one way he’d already know.

If they're going all in for one more year of Ben, it would make no sense to cut Haden. They're probably already losing Hilton and Sutton.

I don’t think they lose both, most seem to think they will keep Sutton.

They should figure a way 2 keep both. Maybe get rid of the guy I think is the biggest weakness on the Defense , T. Edmunds . I know he's still under contract, and I really don't understand the Cap Very much. IMO . If there's someone they can get rid of so we can save more money, that's the Guy.
