What is everybody's gut instinct about the first pick at #22 right now position-wise? DB, OLB, or other?

Cornerback! That's really going out on a limb, huh?

It's going to be someone totally unexpected. A pick that will have several people here throwing Internet temper tantrums. Some offensive lineman will fall and be too good to pass up.

Gut says they won't draft a CB which will be followed by an earthquake but will later be determined that it was PWP's head that exploded.

Gut tells me it's probably going to be a punter. But I have been right on only one pick (D. Decastro) wrong the other 20 times I tried.

Really hoping it ends up being an OLB though. (Unless by some miracle T. Waynes falls in our laps)

    Right now?

My gut says CB, and specifically Kevin Johnson.

They are paying close attention to CB, OLB, TE and RB. They met with KJ twice so far and he presents as decent value at 1:22. I don't think they view TE and/or RB as value/need at 1:22, and I think most of the guys they are wanting at OLB will be gone.

Ask me in two weeks about my "right now" gut instinct and it may be different.

If a stud lineman is there...I won't be surprised.

I would think they'd be very open to trading down 5-6 spots. Would be nice to pick up an extra 3rd, move to around #28, and see what's there. As far as "other," Maxx Williams would not surprise me

agree. I was told they really really spent a lot of time with Johnson at pro day. I think he is the front runner unless something surprising happens like on of the top 10 guys falling.

Yeah, GB, I was saying "right now" just to try and gauge our progress as a fan base leading up to the draft. Last year at this time, for example I was convinced we were going corner, two weeks before the draft I was thinking OLine, and by the time the draft started I thought ILB would be the pick (I thought for sure it would be Mosely if he was still there).

Just trying to see what everybody on the board thinks of as our biggest need vs. likely value of players available at 22.

For the record I am thinking they may address the left side of the OLine right now.

I will implode when a Team moves up right in front of us and gets the #1 Safety or #1 CB . As long as they are gone at #22 then get the BPA or move back.

We are not going to take:

QB, RB, or WR on offense. I could see LT, LG, or TE on offense.

DE, NT, or ILB on defense. I could see OLB, CB, or S on defense.

I think this might be the case... what about that guy from Pitt, will he be around? I'd take him on my team. I wouldn't mind a legit pass rusher too.

Not too excited about any of the DB's in the first round besides the safety Collins

I think its either DB or Other. I'm leaning toward other, and probably off. line the way the draft may fall.

Who ever they take at #22 needs to be a playmaker on defense.

    UPDATE:
My gut instinct, post free agency, is now cornerback.

I think it's Kevin Johnson unless a top edge rusher like Ray falls far enough to trade up using our 3rd. I don't see that happening, so I'm feeling KJ at pick 22

That's who I think we're taking too. I'd be happy with a corner or OLB as well tho. It be upset if we went anywhere on offense besides (maybe) TE Maxx Williams.

Still think it's K. Johnson. We've only lost depth at DB during FA and we're not being coy about our interest in DB's and OLB's. I think the only thing that stops us from taking KJ is him being off the board.

I'm tinkering with other scenarios, but KJ still stands as my gut instinct.

I say either a CB or OLB in rds 1-2.
