One of my all-time favorite Steelers. However, looking back on his stats they are a bit pedestrian.

Do you know his best season for sacks was only 10? And that was the only time he had double-digit sacks in his 11 year career.

He only had 54.5 sacks over 11 years. TJ has already surpassed him. He was a great intimidator but he didn't fill the stat sheet as much as I remembered.

I think his first few years he didn't crack the starting lineup. Then an injury cut his career short in his prime.

But I'd still take him in his prime over Peezy or Harrison. He was also pretty good dropping into coverage, for an 3-4 OLB, as well.

Gildon is the ironman he was Steeler all-time sack leader for quite awhile.

His facemask was Vader-esque. 1 inch steel bars. Pure evil at OLB. One of the last true NFL Gladiators. He instilled fear in several HOF QBs.

He would chew James Harrison head off
and hand it back to him. He was by far the most
intimidating Steeler player in my lifetime. I wish we had
more mean players like him. He played all out for 60 minutes.
    What a motor!!!

He would've been thrown out of the league ... in today's football

Greg Lloyd, 5 Pro Bowls, 3 All Pros, 94 AFC DPOY, a true leader and beast on the field who punished QB's and epitomized Steelers football. I miss those days of football brutality. Its a shame he had that staph infection, it killed his career. He easily could have been a HOF LB. I loved it when he said he was going to knock Dan Marino out of the game, come Monday night, he did exactly that. Or, when he constantly pounded Jim Kelly into the ground, took Brett Favre out and just brutilized QB's in general, football at its finest. One of my favorite players ever that opposing teams truly feared. I still wear his jersey proudly.

Lloyd was a throwback to the 70's, he was the modern version of Jack Lambert.

When you have Kevin Greene on the other side you have to share. There’s only one QB out there

The Steelers were getting a lot more sacks from their inside linebackers during the Lloyd era, plus Ray Seals had some go years on the d-line.

I dream about those mid 90s defenses with Dan Marino at quarterback. Man, how history would have changed for everyone had they just picked the hometown kid with all the skills.

Oh, idk Hines...I Loved Lloyd, But I don't think he'd want any part of Harrison...He was probably the strongest and baddest man I ever seen play !

For me yes Harrison was a bad ass, but Lloyd was a total intimidator.
    He was just plain mean.

It is not the size of the dog in the fight, it is the fight of the dog. I would take LLoyd everyday
    and on Tuesday.

I can't find video footage of Lloyd "counting out? Al Toon of the Jets after Thomas Everett (who was a tremendous hitter), knocked him out. That was Lloyd's rookie season and I remember thinking this guy was born to be a Steeler.
