Also they had an offensive line with about 12 tons of man beef. LOL.

I respectfully disagree. I think a good OC can take speed edge rushers out of the game .As simple as using a TE to help chip . Tackle you drop down leave no room and I crack outside shoulder he will never get a sack.

Now if he has some power and you try that same scheme he can bull rush the Tackle at which point he has created space and can swim, rip, spin, he has a complete arsenal.

So again I think drafting speed edge rushers is a mistake .

I know my memory is going but the offensive line wasn't on the field when the defense was back then, right? :lolol:

Guess we'll find out, wont we ;)

I actually like Shazier,One of the few Buckeyes I like. If he gets stronger and keeps his willingness to hit, the sky's the limit.

I think Dallas had one of the largest OL of all time, plus Troy, Emmit, Irvin I think you get my drift. Ah maybe not.

OH! LOL! I got to this thread late and I didn't realize you were talking about defense. So I'm still right. Just also wrong. LOL.

 Yeah, had a great offense, thanks for pointing that irrelevant fact out. You said you need big boys to succeed, Dallas' defense, key word being defense, was built around speed, pretty damn good unit too. Thanks for playing though.

At least you were late to the party, Ward got lost on his own point.

I have read some quotes on articles where people who knew Jones in college say he didn't work out hard at all.

Where did I say you need big boys to succeed
All I said is that Shazier and JJ should be in the weight room to become stronger, not neccesarily bigger, then you come out of know where with the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's. Everybody and their brother knew why the Dallas Cowboys won in that era, and it wasn't because of their defense.

What does all that mean? You clearly think they need to be bigger and I said you can succeed on speed. I used Dallas as an example because they had a defense built around speed, which was very good by the way.

strong and fast is the ticket. that's what I took from wards statement of (stronger not necessarily bigger). aren't both of you saying the same thing guys?

it usually takes a couple of years to put on that thicker NFL muscle. I do think both LB'ers will be good. I think the speed is there too. at least enough from jj to do what we need him to do. I'm not writing the kid off yet. :smiley1::cool:

I was just pointing out that there is more than one way to skin a cat. I dont know why he is taking umbrage with the example I used, Dallas had a very fast defense that was very good.
