So I'm watching an NFL network about the greatest player ever to wear number 12 in the history of the NFL (Probably on today to honor Kenny Stabler RIP).

Lots of great ones out there but to put Marsha (the cheater*) Brady at #1 and put Terry (4 time SB Champion) Bradshaw at #2 is an absolute disgrace to the game.

Obviously NFL network is influenced by Bob Kraft the same way that ESPN is in bed with that organization as well.

How can that even be possible?

4 Time SB Champions with 2 MVP's is ranked lower than a 3 time SB *Champion who has been proven to be a cheater in a cheating organization.

    What a disgrace!

I have to go throw up for a while. Be back to discuss later.

    But somehow, very predictable.

I like those top ten things just to remind me of the players - and there have been a lot of (non-cheating) greats to wear 12. T
Really, the rankings mean very little. So on the bright side, at least knowing Brady is no.1 you know you can switch off the programme without missing anyone else.

Right? I know those top 10 shows are empty calories, but how is that even possible? A QB who's wins are marred by cheating controversies and a QB who led a dynasty and has 4 SB rings. :hmmm:

Yeah. I'm feeling the need to rant about this.

All Brady has in the first place is those rings. No one considers him one of the best on his play alone. All they have when they make the case is his Super Bowl wins.

I've always hated that, because Super Bowl wins are a team statistic. Of course he should get some credit for it, but to just jump straight to it is ridiculous. If you're really looking at it right, you have to look at how they won, how they played to get to and win those Super Bowls. Eli is not a great QB, but I give him 100% credit for his Super Bowl wins because of the way he played in those two playoff runs. He's not the best, but he sure as hell was the best those two years, in those two playoff runs. So how about Brady? Does he deserve the same credit I just gave Eli? Well, he and his team cheated to get all four wins!

Obviously it's not a factor for Pats fans, who pull whatever they need out of their collective ass to feel better about themselves ("I assume we would have won anyway even if we didn't cheat, so that means there's nothing wrong with the cheating." "Probably every other team also spied and also underinflated the balls the exact same years the Patriots did, they just didn't get caught. Why is the league picking on us like this??")

Unfortunately, it's also not a factor for the people on TV. They do what they need to do to protect the NFL, and that means unanimously supporting the Patriots the first time they got caught cheating ("Well, they made a mistake, but they would have won anyway, so don't even suggest taking any wins away"), unanimously supporting Michael Vick ("He made a mistake, everybody makes mistakes, let's move on"), unanimously supporting Michael Sam when the spotlight was on ("This is a great day for the NFL to welcome this wonderful man into the league") and then unanimously ignoring the record-speed, completely illogical dismissal from the NFL.

Regardless of how you feel about Sam or Vick, or even if you're a closet Patriots fan, what do those things have in common? They sweep crap under the rug. It's just what they do. It's their mandate. To portray the league in the best way possible. And to them, doing the right thing (taking away wins from a cheating team, advancing a team that just lost a game) is just too messy and would look too bad. So they try to strike this ridiculous balance of keeping everybody happy. They acknowledge the bad things, pretend to do something about it, and then sweep it under the rug, never speak of it again, and blackball those that do as clinging to the past and not believing in forgiveness or some crap. I'll never let it go, as long as nothing serious happens. And I'm sorry, but trading fines and suspensions for Super Bowl wins is still a trade most teams will take, especially the type of team that has little enough respect and honor to cheat their way to the top in the first place. Take away the wins!

Edit - Marsha Has 4 **** S/B Titles. Although the last one was the result of the dumbest play call in the history of the NFL.

Still a joke that he and his organization are proven cheaters and are still held to such high acclaims.

Their reasoning was that the Steeler's had an all around great team on all sides of the ball and the running game plus receiving group helped Bradshaw more than the surrounding cast around Brady.:bscow:

Excuse me I have to go vomit again.

If I was starting a team tomorrow and was looking for a franchise QB, it'd hard to pass on Brady as a rookie with what we know about him now. (Pre cheating of course)

That said when you factor in the cheating allegations, no way he beats out Bradshaw. I really don't know why he gets the support he does. Guy's a cheating dirtbag. You'd think people would want to distance theirselves from a guy like this,NFL included.

This may sound as if I am defending Brady ,but I can't stand him. With that said , he has won a lot with a poor Defense overall and with some no name WR'S to a degree and with some fair RB'S . The point being he has done it in a time that is harder to do and with less help ....

I still hate him though, never forget that part....

I thought the dumbest Superbowl play was done twice, in the same game...O'Donnell to Larry Brown

How about having a football bounce off your chest in the end zone then flop around on the ground?

Those plays made me sick as I have ever been emotionally and nearly physically. Especially when I hosted a party in Cincinnati surrounded by Bungle fans cause I was certain O'Dumbell could come thru and the Steelers defense would shut down Emmitt Smith.

But to have the best RB in the league not get the hand off on 3rd and goal at about the 2 yard line with the game on the line but instead call a pass play definitely is the worst call in the history of the NFL Bar None.

I disagree. Their defense was pretty good for their first 3 wins. Their receivers were better, too, and their OL was always very good.

Arguments for Brady: More Super Bowl appearances; more MVPs; played with no HOFers* on his offense.

Argument against Brady: Belichick was the HC; didn't have to beat many HOFers* either; played in an era of plays on the wristbands and headphones in the hemlet; had Vinatieri and then Gostkowski as automatic points; low-risk, low-reward pass game.

Arguments for Bradshaw: Had no offensive coordinator; called all the plays on offense (he WAS the coordinator!); anyone complaining about he Steelers' running the ball so much has to remember that Bradshaw called all those run plays; one-man post-season highlight reel.

Arguments against Bradshaw: Played with HOFers* galore; numbers were always great--threw a lot of picks.

    * the whole HOF debate needs to be put in perspective. While Brady played with less talent, he also beat watered-down talent. Bradshaw had HOFers but had to beat a bunch of them, too.

I remember the Jackie Smith play well and Tom Brookshire's commentary:

"Bless his heart. He's gotta be the sickest man in America."

Wasn't that Hastings' fault when he ran a hitch on a hot read that called for an out pattern?

It was second down. Thanks for reminding me. I remember Pete Carroll using it as an excuse for passing on that down. Still the dumbest play call in the history of the NFL. That has got to face palm Seattle fans more than O'donnells INT's does for Steelers fans during SB XXX. I still hate those mishaps during our loss but still it wasn't as bad not handing the ball off to the Beast on the 2 with time expiring in the game.

Regardless. Bradshaw will always be ranked higher than the proven cheating Brady IMO. He would definitely be ranked higher on that best #12 list had it not been for Pete Carroll's blunder play calling.

    I don't have a problem with Brady at 1.....In his 15 year career ..he lost 1 season to injury....so lets say 14 years....he has been to 6 Super Bowls....is 4-2 in those games....Guy is in the Super Bowl 42% of the time....thats amazing.....had a 16-0 season...more amazing

you look at the last 14 years...the AFC QBs in the big game are

    Tom Brady - 6 times (4-2)
    Ben Roethlisberger - 3 times (2-1)
    Peyton Manning - 3 times (1-2)
    Rich Gannon - 1 time (0-1)
    Joe Flacco - 1 time (1-0)

I love Terry Bradshaw.....but cheating or no.....Brady is the currently the best QB of his time......even though if I was building a team I would take Peyton over Brady all day long.

that being said....I don't like the guy, and he better be suspended at least 3 of those 4 games.

Why would you take Peyton over Brady, if you think Brady is the best?

The question isn't "Who had more success?" It's "Who is a better player during that time period?" I'd take Manning all day long too, because he's the better player.

I can't stand the "Brady is the greatest of all time" talk. At no point in his career was he the best QB in his own conference.

Hard to talk about Brady in this context without talking about Belichick. Here's a better question then:

If you had to chose, would you take belichick or Brady?

If I wanted to cheat my way to a superbowl, then I'd definitely choose Belichick. Hides his trails much better.

My question is how successful would one be without the other? At least with Manning or the likes of Big Ben, I'm sure they could be as successful. Brady, Not so sure. Spygate certainly had it true advantages.
