Nice article, Snack. It reiterates what every Steelers fan should know- Ben's hard to take down, tough as nails, king of the pump-fake, and master of extending the play. Hard to disagree with the Favre and Tarkenton comparisons. It's nice to see him getting some recognition even after the team's 8-8 record.

I think his pump fake got a lot better last season. For a year or two before that, it was always there, but he did in such a way and to such an extent that nobody ever seemed to bite on it.

Last season it was a different story - by far my favourite touchdown of last season was the one where he pump faked about 28 times.

I know what you mean. There's nothing like seeing defenders jump 3 feet in the air to block on a pump-fake.

I can almost hear Chris Berman going, "WHOOP!" every time he pump fakes on that gif.

I LOVE that play. To me, that play is a one play sample of why Ben is unlike any other QB in the game. If another offseason with Haley gets him into an even better rhythm with the short, quick passes, the combination of rhythm passing with Ben style improvisation will be productive. If we stay healthy on offense, I could see a 24+ PPG season, which should easily be enough for 11-5 or 12-4.

    Enigma describes him perfectly.

There needs to be a healthy balance. Ben can't improvise all the time, but as the article indicates, it can't be completely taken away either. Ben needs to be reigned in. One of the examples listed in that article is Ben refusing to take a 5 yard completion and instead holding the ball for 8 seconds to make a bigger play. It's great that it worked, but those are plays that get lineman hurt, get Ben hurt and/or result in sacks. Ben is going to do those things regardless of who his coaches are, but he also needs to realize that a 5 yard completion is a great thing unless it's 3rd and long.

So Ben will be Ben, there's no doubt about it, but it's good to have someone at OC who will reign him in.
