Nowadays, with all the message boards we can sometimes over-analyze things. I'm not saying this year's team is on par with the 1979 Steelers that beat the Rams in the Super Bowl but that was an interesting team. On their way to the big game they somehow lost 34–10 to the Bengals and lost 35–7 at San Diego. Bad games happen but I don't remember too many people calling for Noll's head after those losses.

Hey - maybe it's better that the Steelers have gone back under the radar for awhile.

The Steelers are far from under the radar.

After Tomlin has three rings I doubt many will call for his head. What people really want to know about him is if he can win one that didn't come on the heels of Bill Cowher. I give him credit for '08 don't get me wrong, but can he do it again?

Great points. With some of the daft picks over the last few years, I dunno. Mendy ... rule #1. NEVER draft a RB in the 1st round. They are a dime a dozen. Bruce Davis, Sweed etc. These kinds of drafts can haunt you down the road.

I liked this thread and good points were made. I have found that I am a lot happier this week NOT watching ESPN and the Taking Heads claim our Power Ranking has fell and that we are not ready to compete with the big boys in the NFL. I know this will be mentioned over and over again. If I watched it I will keep saying aloud, "Do you remember how many starters of ours were hurt, suspended, and did not play?" Therefore, I should mention that this week I am so much happier not watching the Talking Heads. We know no matter how many Super Bowls we win we just do not get the respect that we deserve.

Now, when we knock Baltimore out in Round 2 or 3 this year, I will then turn on ESPN and the NFL Network, and let them all talk about how great we were for that one week. I know by the next game, they will all be rooting against us again.

The Steelers will most likely defeat the Ravens if they meet, in the playoffs. But the talking heads won't mention much about it. They don't give credit to the Steelers for anything other than the Harrison hits that get flagged, fined, penalized.

This 2011 Steelers team is fine. They have their shortcomings, but so to all teams (I listed some of the ones for the "elite" teams in my "Playoff Hope" thread).

Once again, FOCUS and DISCIPLINE is all this team needs to win SBXLVI. They have arguably the greatest collection of talent on any one team. They just need to execute better, and they can blow all other teams out... Including Green Bay.

Look, Packers and Patriots have questionable defense, this year. The only teams that should give Steelers problems are: Ravens (Ray Rice/offense, Suggs&Ngata/defense); and Saints (haven't watched much but they seem solid in all three phases).

If the Steelers play good, error-free ball against these teams they will win because:

*Patriots: Even if Brady manages to move the ball against our defense, Ben should be able to shred theirs. And eventually LeBeau will stop Brady somehow to create a margin for Steelers.

*Packers: Same as Patriots. And, for some reason... I think Brady is more effective against us (maybe because Steelers play Patriots more often).

*Saints: Steelers more physical and should wear them down. Harrison and Woodley should be able to slow down the Brees-effect.

*Ravens: Stop Ray Rice, you stop the Ravens. Captain Checkdown cannot save them.

Everyone else the Steelers should be able to outplay, hands down.

Just my thoughts. But the question is: Will the Steelers play with focus and discipline?

    Show me, Tomlin.
