Goodell upholds Saints penalties

Associated Press reports that Goodell has rejected all of the Saints' appeals of their penalties. Sean Payton will not be coaching this season, nor are any other of the penalties that were appealed by the Saints relieved.

I think it is BS. WIlliams was not right; and he needs the bulk of the punishment; maybe something smaller for Payton.

Seriously, this does not even compare to spygate. Players, coaches, teams have been bartering for players from the pee wee's all the way to the Pro's for decades. It's just that the NFL now is getting so politically correct that they are really altering the game. I don't think it's right but the Saints have been caught with their hands in the Cookie jar and now they are scapegoated into huge disciniplary action by Gooddell. His policies are so inconsistent that each team and player is subject to penalties based on his mood swings or influence.

 

I am not a big Goodell fan but we can thank our overly litigious society for what we are seeing now in the NFL. There is definitely a correlation between the lawsuits from former players and the cracking down heavily on the bounty system. That stinks for the many old school football fans but it is what it is.
