Boy,so much negativity, I dislike MT but I love the PGH Steelers
and the young players have improved plus we were coming off
a HUGE rivalry game playing with out 3 All Pros. Hey anything can
happen in the playoffs, get hot at the right time. GO STEELERS. Side note
    I am a realist I will call a spade a spade.

I don't think some posters here realize this. It amazes me every week (You would think I'd learn?) in the game thread how negative and doom and gloom several people around here get if ANYTHING goes against this team. Down 7-0 on the first drive? GAME OVER!!! Look at that thread vs the Ravens. That game was over when the Steelers were down 10. I was laughed at by several of them when I posted that I think the Steelers still win that game.

The D we've seen over the last few games is VERY different than the D we've seen all year. I don't count yesterday because it was a meaningless game, several starters didn't play and those who did were playing more not to get hurt than anything. If yesterday was a must win game with all the starters, the Steelers win that game by 20.

I'm excited to see what the Steelers can do this year.

I agree that Harrison makes a big difference vs the run as does Tuitt. Am I the only one that 'members how we shut down the run during the first four games of this current win streak? You know, before we lost Tuitt, Matthews, and even Hargrave for a game?

When we first played Miami, it was the first time all year they had their actual five starters together on the Oline. Our young defense was still in flux. The terrific trio of rookies weren't starting yet and Bud and Debo were not the starting OLBs. I think we will shut down AJai early and the Dolphins will abandon the run in the second half.

I think I'm generally more of a glass half empty guy, but I just see us crushing this team at home this week.

Have you ever played football on a high school or college level?? Nobody goes on the field and plays "not to get hurt" because when you play like that you end up hurt. I would say that they played a vanilla type D but this trend has been going no for the last 3 weeks. The only reason we are ranked in stopping the run is because the secondary is bad, sorry but it is pitiful. I watch uncontested catches being made and simple pitch and catch all the way down the field every single game. Bud Dupree has 3 COVERAGE SACKS, a coverage sack is when the QB is sacked after holding the ball longer than 4 seconds, Dupree can't get off blocks. I'm gloom and doom because I don't see any game plan or change to compensate for piss poor play week in an week out. Does it fall on the players? To a degree yes, but if the coach can't keep an ego in check then the coach is the problem. Is anyone else tired of watching screen passes go for huge gains week in and week out? Why can't this team defend against that stuff?? This game coming up reminds me of the Denver/Tebow game, the only difference is the team was aging in the secondary and we lost Aaron Smith on the d-line so the only way to stop the run was play man to man with no safety help as we had to have the box stacked otherwise we were giving up 9 yards per carry. Tebow completed 10 passes for his only 300 yard passing game ever, 10 completions for 316, or 31.6 yards per completion, a playoff record. This defense looks a lot like that one did.

Nope. This is a "Good win but" thread. We have some positives that we look at but it's not all roses. Always room for improvement with all these games if you want to make the big dance and bring it all home.

If we never make a mistake then I will use a new title.

Well, On second thought, I'm not pressing my luck. I'll find something to "complain" about.

Wrong. I predicted the Steelers to beat the Ravens and the Browns. I thought Landry Jones would struggle vs. the Browns and the O-line and Defense would be adequate. It was the opposite... Jones had a decent game, despite the lethargic performance of the O-line and a defense that didn't show up. Not a good sign going into the playoffs... and I don't care if Pouncey and Tuitt were not playing. Steelers got manhandled by the Browns in the trenches.

I played HS and college football. I played MLB and TE. I remember several games near the end of the season when we knew we were going to the playoffs and our intensity wasn't nearly as high and our hits weren't as hard. Were we playing "not to get hurt"? I suppose not, but we weren't playing at 100%. The risk/reward was too high so we coasted more than anything. More push tackles instead of arm tackles, etc.

You're doom and gloom because you need to be. You've convinced yourself that this team sucks and won't be happy until they are beaten and you've been proven right and can come on here and say "SEE!!! I TOLD YOU WE SUCK!!" That's not to say you won't be happy if we win it all, but that won't make your right, will it? Instead of focusing on 1 meaningless game in which the starters either sat or coasted, why don't you look at the D and how it's improved over this whole win streak. The offense has been the one to struggle, leaving the D out there for far longer than it should be, and it's held up!

Sunday is going to be a great day, I feel it. This D is nowhere near a shut down D and will give up plays, but they're good enough and will show that. Sunday will be the first time that Ben, Brown and Bell have played together in a play-off game! How crazy is that.

I know it's hard for those of you who are pot committed and feel they have to keep bashing this team or look stupid by backing down, but I wouldn't be shocked at a run. That's not cheerleader, it's realistic. They're 11-5 AFTER losing 4 in a row! Keep being negative if you want, but I see a team that is starting to believe, and so do I.
