Every thing I am reading sats this is the best position we have been in with the cap in years. However just because we are in good shape don't mean we have money to just throw around. If we are going to spend 2+ mil on someone I want it to be an impact player not a guy that may not see the field and if he does it means our season is over anyways, jmo.

I guess I don't share your concerns. LJ's contract won't keep them from signing anyone.

I'd rather spend 2 mil on a guy that knows the system then 650k on a guy that doesn't and offers no upside over Landry. Yeah I know the jokes and criticisms of LJ, I don't agree. He held his own his last 2 outings.

Well who is to say ZM will not learn the system, guys come and go all the time. We know what we have with LJ and I am not dumping on him I am just saying he is nothing special, imo. If he is just average why spend 2+ mil on him when we can spend 690K for the same result? I am not saying ZM is the answer, no by no means but I am saying he is every bit as talented as LJ. LJ, ZM these guys have some kind of talent or else they would never have made it this far, I am fine with ZM basically from a money stand point and the fact that if Ben goes the seasons over anyways. jmo

Is that all ZM is making? Is he even signed past this season? I didn't include him because I expect him to try his hand at starting again. No team is going to sign LJ away to start but I think Zach will be given an opportunity.

I'd bring back Landry for about 2 to 2.25 million a year. I think he is adequate back up and that is back up money.

Anything over that your over paying.

I'd give him a 3 year deal. If he doesn't like that. Draft or see what else is out there on the FA market.

Coming from a true LJ hater who is disappointed that landry had a good game, and I dont think God has anything to say negative about LJ since he is a Christian, God is in LJs corner and I expect he agrees with me..

Yes ZM is signed to a 690K contract and we can cut him and there is zero dead money so this is a very favorable contract for us. Also why I feel 2+ mil is to much for LJ, jmo.

If we end up bringing him back for 2 mil then fine I won't like it but I understand why they would, he is not great otherwise people would want him as a starter but he is also not garbage he has a lot of value to us. Like I said if it were me making the decision I would off a 3 year deal avg around 1.25 mil, that will not break us and also gets a guy who has been in this system. If he don't take it I am very comfortable in seeing what ZM can do while drafting a young guy.

Now back up money is all over the place McCown and Henne are in the 4 mil range, Keenum, Stanton and Hill in the 3 mil range and Weeden, Cassel, Sanchez and Hoyer are in the 2 mil range. There also a ton of guys like LJ who are around a mil coming off their rookie contracts.

Leveon Bell has said recently that he thinks LJ can start for several teams, he's around him more than we are so I cant say Bell doesnt know what he's talking about...

I don't hate anyone. What I do hate is the Steelers wasting a draft pick and then not being willing to cut bait and move on.

BTW, maybe you should check out Billy Madison. You know, the movie. Maybe the comment would make a little more sense to you then.

Not to be offensive but you seem like one of those people who want to cut Warren every year because the vet minimum is 1 Mil for his years in the league and that's too much money for a long snapper when you can pick them up off the street for chump change. They have no solid reason for wanting him gone other than it could save that million dollars never mind that the guy is money and you never have to worry about him just save the money.

Same thing with LJ you have nothing against him just that money could be saved. Saved for what is debatable but there it is.

Well I get what your saying but I think each position is a little different. My stance on LJ is not just about money but performance, I feel that if we want to sign LJ he will cost us some where between 2-3 mil. With that said we have a guy signed right now for 690K which I feel is very comparable in skill to LJ. Why spend the extra 1.2-2mil on a guy that if gets into the game our season is over anyways? Harrison is making 1.5 mil this year, I would rather be able to afford JH and ZM then just LJ. Now if we end up with the space that is a different story, LJ has been in the system for 4 years and hasn't been lights out but hasn't been garbage either. We are talking about a back up QB so when he does get in the game most of the time he don't get the prep work a starting QB does, not to mention finding a rhythm like we talk about with Ben a lot.

Let me tell you I am not about cutting a guy who contributes just to save a buck, my thinking on LJ is purely on the thought that ZM can be just as good. I don't feel that every player we have on this team or even on the street can come in and contribute and this situation is a whole lot different then the one you propose about Warren. If I feel 2 guys are close in skill set then of course I am going the lesser money, but let's also keep in mind what position we are talking about. jmo.
