So I got tickets to the MNF game vs. KC on Saturday.

I'm looking for a hotel within walking distance of the stadium, and I'd like to not pay a fortune. Is there anything for around $100 a night? It doesn't have to be super fancy, just somewhere that I'm not going to get bed bugs.

Or if I stay outside the city like near the airport... what is it like trying to find parking near the stadium? It is a nightmare? What's it cost? Etc.

I'd be happy to move this to Steelers Talk as this is definitely Steelers related IMO, SBD. It's up to you of course, but you'll probably get a lot more action there.

When I've been to Pittsburgh all of the hotels I've noticed that are REALLY close to Heinz seem like they would be pretty high because it's right in the city. But there was a Best Western that we stayed at that's close to the mall and it was pretty reasonable. I don't know the exact price because my dad paid for it but it was a nice room and it was probably around maybe $150 or so?? If you know anyone with a AAA account they can probably help you out also.

Yeah Myron after doing a little research I'm realizing that I'm dreaming. THanks for the tip on the Best Western Blount, I'll check that out.

If anyone has any other tips on parking/navigating to the stadium it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'll tell you a funny story about a cheap hotel that we stayed in and it was'nt even CLOSE! In 09 I decided spur of the moment to go to the Vikes game. So I called my dad the day before the game and asked him if we could go and he said yeah. So I got my REALLY awesome seats from a scalper. The only problem was on that same weekend there were 3 games in Pittsburgh so EVERY hotel was sold out. So I called Expedia or one of those agents and they said they had 1 room near Pittsburgh and I was like "Yes! I"ll take it!" It was a Days Inn outside Pittsburgh and when we got there we realized why it was the only one NOT sold out. It was a crack house! The room looked like something from a gritty, no holds barred, Christopher Nolan film about the dangers of addiction. We had an adjoining room and the people next to us were partying it down all night and we had to lay towels at our door to keep all the smoke from flooding in to our room. The ceiling was actually like a brownish/yellowy/golden color but it used to be white. So whatever you do don't wait until the last moment because the odds are that if you do you will wind up having the same kind of experience for me. BUT that game against Minnesota was so great and I was so close to the field that I suppose I would probably sleep in a crack house again to experience that kind of fun.

I ended up getting a room at the Clarion Hotel for $65 a night. Looks like its about a 10 minute drive from Heinz...

So we're making the trip for the Monday night game... I'll probably want to go into the city around 4-5 and start partying. Is there somewhere I can park close to the stadium (that early) and then just walk to the bars/stadium? Or should i take a cab?

The garages that we've parked at were sorta high. Scalpers actually sale parking passes that are really close. I think once we paid like $50 for the garage closest to the stadium. If you do get there early enough in the day you MIGHT be able to eat at Grill 36. I've always tried to eat there but there are always so many people it's ridiculous and the restaurant is not managed very well but I've just always wanted to be able to say that I ate at The Bus's restaurant.

I've actually been to the Bus' restaurant. That was the first spot I hit when I came for the Ravens playoff game a few years ago.

It was okay, didn't blow me away. The atmosphere was pretty cool. I'd do it once to see it but probably won't go back.

Im going to guess your staying at the Clarion in Green Tree.....My advise, drive to Station Square, park there and take the ferry over.Parking is cheap,at most 1.00 a hour ,ferry is, if I remember correct, $20 round trip.Lets you off and picks you up right outside stadium.Park on left side of The Square.Ferry is right there.Real easy out after game and ferry has a bar on it. :drinks: ENJOY!!!!

There are several hotels on the North Shore near the Stadium. There are two Marriots and a Hyatt. I work on the Northside, we've put people up in each and they are fine.

Bettis is worth a stop. It's a sports bar, but it has better than average sports bar food. Unless it's dropped off and I haven't eaten there in ayear, I'd still recommennd it. Atria's in PNC Park is a decent restaurant. The Hyde Park Grill is a bit upscale, (I've not been there but I hear good things.

You don't have to stay on the Northside (sorry, I should say Northshore), there are a lot of downtown hotels and restauratns worth trying. And I think you can still take the Gateway Clipper from Station Square to Heinz Field. There's a Sheraton at Station Sq, several good restaurants, and you can take a river boat ride to the Stadium. Not sure what you want to do or spend, but you might consider it.
