yes - it will be amicable. of course. they would not embarrass him. he will agree to resign, with persuasion.

    he needs to go......

It depends on how things play out. If somehow, the Steelers make the playoffs, Tomlin will still be here for as long as he wants to be. By not making the playoffs, if Tomlin is ready to retire from coaching, everything will go smooth. If he still wants to coach, and ARII says you can stay, but you must fire all the coaches and Khan will be approving the new hires, Tomlin may agree to it or he may balk at it. If he agrees, then he gets an extension. If he balks at it, then he may be in his last year without an extension, or the Steelers tell him, if you find a team that wants you, we can work out a trade.

Look on the bright side, at least Tomlin’s doesn’t dress like this…at least we have that going for us.

Win Saturday and beat the Bengals at home the following week and the cheering will be every bit as loud.

Why should Tomlin care about that? If he wants another coaching job in 2024, he will have one whether he is fired, resigns, or "retires."

The goal of sports is to win championships, not have a winning record. The Steelers have been horribly mismanaged for several years and it will take some years to bring the Steelers back to being perennial contenders, like they were when Tomlin got hired. But there is no hope until the entire coaching staff is replaced.

It's the Steelers (Rooney family) organization that cares about it and how they want to be perceived.

I think we both know that is not happening. This team is beyond cooked after losing back to back at home to 2 win teams.

I like the way Omar Khan operates and Wedl has a good eye for talent.

I think the Steelers are two nfl-caliber coordinators away from contending again.

I’ve always liked Tomlin and I see no reason why he can’t be the CEO-type head coach who lets his OC run the offense and his DC run the defense.

Enough of this hiring from within stuff though. While it’s admirable on the surface, the game has passed the Steelers by offensively from an Xs and Os standpoint.

We could really use a new special teams coach too. Steelers constantly lose the field position battle and I can’t remember the last time we had a good return that didn’t get returned for a penalty flag.

Enough with the hiring from within stuff? It generally boils down to comfortable working relationships. It's such a small thing but it is important.

Xs and Os don't win game bro. Players win games.

I agree with you that players win games, but Shanahan’s offense puts players in position to make plays far better than Canada’s does so you can’t ignore Xs and Os either.

Rooney could still keep Tomlin and fire the whole coaching staff. That would still be a mistake.
