I was watching the Arizona / New York game and BA went for two after going up with a score. Instead of being up by six with an extra point, he want to be up seven, but ended up up only five. There was a good bit of time left.

i am of the opinion that you take the extra point always unless absolutely necessary. The Cards later tacked on a FG and are up now by 8. This is a single possession game now. If they were up by 9, it would be a 2-possession game.

i think you should either stick with the extra point kick unless in dire need of that point (near end of game) or you go for two every time throughout the game until very late when you employ a strategic attitude toward the PAT.

i have seen numerous time where the chart early has bitten a team later because they went for two and missed it early, where the single point would have won the game.
