    Just like Aqib Talib....

It's only a question that you would ask, because you've demonstrated an inability to judge CB ability

Seems me and the Steelers think about the same ..They did tender Ross to a 4th. rounder and not a #1 or #2 like you think he is...Not strategy simple value...A 4th. is all he may be worth he might not be worth that..

Yea, there's more to it than that.

The Steelers have taken this gamble many times. They did the same thing with Emmanuel Sanders (orig. round tender). He got an offersheet, they matched it.

It's like this. The Steelers have a number at which they are willing to pay Ross, like they did with Sanders. But to create the POTENTIAL for additional cap space, they are willing to bet that no other team will exceed the high end of what they are willing to commit to Ross. If someone offers him something in their range, they will match (like they did with Sanders). If someone does NOT make that offer, they have successfully created additional cap space this season.

So basically... everything you said is wrong. It IS strategy, not simple value. If they didn't value Ross, they wouldn't have tendered him at all. You actually think their analysis is "Ross is worth 1.8 Million BUT NOT 2.7 Million..no way is he worth 900k more".... <mod edit>

Your response was perfect up to that point. The rest was not necessary.

My boss at work tells me this regularly whenever I email the HR department.

I think the disconnect here is why do you think he's not a top 10 corner outside of NE? Just about every metric of judging a CB points to him being a very good corner. It's gotta be based around something more than magically becoming worse for leaving Belichick's system and a slow 40 time at his pro day. There has to be some sort of cogent reason for believing this.

Now I'm not even advocating throwing 11mil a year and the 30th pick at him, but he's certainly a high end CB.
