Got to think his knee injury was more significant than anyone was willing to admit.

I wish him all the best personally. I only wish though he could have a Pro Bowl or two. Injuries did not assist him in shedding the "Injury Prone" label he has received.

Hopefully though, a team who desperately needs a tackle would give up a 3rd at best. There are risks with him but he is still an above average tackle.

Something is going on because Dale Lolley is reporting up and until days ago they were rolling into 2019 with Gilbert and now they are trading or cutting him.

I think it's a good idea if they could get a 3rd or 4th round pick. Okorafor did great in his role last year.

Maybe the team chose to invest elsewhere, such as the new deals for Pouncey and Foster and the tender for Finney. Maybe Lolley's source was wrong. Keeping Foster and Finney frees them from concern about needing Feiler inside, which in term may make it easier to move on from Gilbert.

It sucks to lose you job to injury, but you figure Gilbert had to see the writing on the wall there. I wish him luck with whatever team he ends up playing with.

Best of luck Marcus! You have been an excellent Steeler, and your play on the field exceeded my expectations. The injuries are unfortunate, and not your fault. The team needs to take this step because of the reality of having a 53 man roster and salary cap.

With that out of the way, my guess is that the best we get is a conditional 6th or 7th in 2020. More likely we’ll need to cut him.

He was traded to the Cards for a sixth-round pick.

Arizona. Of course! They needed to restock their inventory of former Steelers.

It's a great deal for the Cardinals, if he can stay healthy.... And as we all know, that's a huge if.

Good deal for the Steelers too. Gilbert is going into the final year of his contract and there's 2 very capable guys, to step up and compete for the spot. He likely would have been released, so a 6th is decent compensation.

Yep, 6th rd pick. Shame he couldn't stay healthy, run game is better when he is in there. 6th is a good pick up though.

Might be more than we get in return for AB.

I'm happy to keep stockpiling picks either way. I liked Gilbert a lot. I hope he does well in Arizona!

I always thought the bigger advantage with Gilbert in there was pass blocking. He always grades out high in protection, but Hubbard in 2017 and Feiler in 2018 were both strong options blocking for the run.

This move does make sense with Feiler returning and Okorafor likely to be ready to compete for a starting job.

Gives us 3 6th round picks. Hopefully we can move up somewhere.....maybe two of them can get us back into the 5th. There could be a nice piece there...

Best of luck to Marcus Gilbert. Solid player and a good Steeler. Im glad we were able to get something for him. It was pretty obvious the writing was on the wall.

Good luck Marcus. Hope you do well as long except when you are not playing us. Hope they don't use this pick on a long snapper again.

Would've preferred a 4th or 5th, but with the injuries and the steroid suspension, I guess the compensation was ok
