Again. You want them to protest on your terms when it’s convenient for you. It doesn’t work that way.. also do not confuse a social issue with a political issue. There has been a concerted effort to portray this as a political issue, but nothing could be further from the truth. Racism is a social issue.

Actually, I told one guy that most of MLB would find his “let’s go bucs” face mask offensive.

If I go to Mcdonalds to buy a big mac, I do not expect to be lectured on human rights by the guy behind the counter. Why? Because I came in to get a cheeseburger. When I turn on an NBA basketball game, I don't expect to watch a 2 hour lecture on human rights. Why? Because I tuned in to watch a basketball game.

The fact that these guys are all millionaires does not mean that they are prohibited from having an opinion. But most fan-bases consist of your everyday working men and women. When you make the obscene amounts of money that these guys make, and then refuse to work while still getting paid, it certainly is a bad look.

and how many times have you been lectured in McDonald’s? How many while trying to watch a game? Oh that’s right. Absolutely none.

as for your comment about still getting paid, Nope. It actually hurts them, it hurts the owners, and it hurts the networks.

Have you watched an NBA game recently. It's like they squeezed a basketball game into coverage of a Black Lives Matter protest.

I will say this and then I will bow out, so as not to contribute to this thread going sideways. Your heels are dug in. So are the heels of the others you will debate against. NO ONE likes to have the opinions of another crammed down their throat. When that happens, its the other persons first reaction to rebel against that opinion. Nothing good is being accomplished here.

Just to add some positivity to this thread. I think the Steelers organization as a whole, should be commended for how it is handling business right now. Art III and Tomlin seem to have the team focused and ready to play football during some pretty tough times.

I have voiced my disapproval of Tomlin on numerous occasions. But right now, I can't think of a better guy to coach the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is walking the fine line between addressing the issues, and keeping the team focused on the season. I'm not sure how the season will play out, but I am glad he's here.

They can protest whenever they want. If they skip games they won’t have my support. And by the reaction thus far of fans to a potential sitting out of games it’s probably going to backfire on them.
I can choose where and who I’ll support and you should do the same.

    Hey TuRnDoWnForWaTT.

Yes, I too have expressed my Pros and Cons about Tomlin on here. Like you, I agree. He is the best out there for what needs to be done to "Balance Act" this situation.

Maybe I’m as dumb as my wife says I am. Can someone seriously explain to me how disrespecting the flag or failing to show up for work does anything good for society?

NONE of us is as dumb as our wives think we are! IMO, if you kneel, or sit out a few times you get people's attention. If you keep doing it at every chance, the message becomes monotonous and people tend to tune out

I would normally think that in some way you’d be forcing someone to see things your way by withholding something they need. In this case they are depriving the owners and the fans. Both of whom have minimal impact on the changes they seek.
They would be better served to petition the people who can change these issues.
To answer your question. In the manner they’re going about things it really does very little.
As Strummer said “we are talking about it” That would be good if it was positive talk, but it’s just creating more divide and a general dislike towards professional athletes.

At this point I’m keeping my comments specifically about the impact of Athletes sitting out games.
I believe this is a discussion relative to the Steelers and its effect on their fans.

So are you saying that the rioting and looting will stop if we have a few games get boycotted? I also must’ve missed the part in the constitution that says you can commit felonies as as part of your freedoms.

One way to fix the situation is not to believe this, "stereotyping and profiling is mostly deserved/justified"

I’m quite sure you’re right, but sometimes you see things you can’t unsee. Maybe not the best thing I could’ve said though.

In the way you are putting it there is very little gained by it. However what they are trying to do is not disrespecting the flag or failing to show up for work. What they are trying to do is use the opportunity that their talent has afforded them to highlight a wrong in society and bring about change by reaching a broad audience.

I mentioned this early to much of the message is lost because people focus on those speaking and their lives instead of focusing on what they are saying.

I understood what you meant. It can be very difficult these days to say what you mean in a way that isn't considered insensitive.

Everybody is aware of what’s going on at this point. If there not they’re living under a rock. Sitting out a game doesn’t make much sense cause there will be no audience. The fans aren’t the ones that can change laws or retrain the police immediately so what’s the reasoning?

To do what we are doing now, discussing it. Changes happens slowly and by draw attention to the topic they are engaging with people to discuss the issue and to get thd first pebble rolling.

I think this is an agree but also disagree. For me, I stand for the anthem, remove my hat, and put my hand on my heart. Anything less is something less. Be it a player kneeling, which is deliberate, or a drunk who is too dumb. To me, they are the same.
