Ever get the feeling that you could go back to one of the Kapernick/kneeling threads and the same people would be making the same arguements, on both sides?

There is another injustice going on right now but they dont care to support that. What injustice. How about overpaid athletes, musicians, actors and actresses.

Interesting you have issues with celebrities, but no mention of business men and woman that run companies into the ground and receive a golden parachute.

While I agree with your position, it isn't quite that simple, man.

Another poster said something about if a player boycotts a game, fire him, I meant the NFLPA wouldn't allow that to happen.

Talking about it is definitely a good thing. Problem is that they are pissing people off and instead of fans rallying around the cause its going to have the opposite effect.

For me personally I initially supported and was sympathetic of the issues at hand, but the manner in which they’re going about things I really don’t care anymore and won’t offer my support.

Steel Elvis, they tried kneeling and it did nothing. What they were trying to stop is still going on. You can’t see me but I’m white. Like, sandy haired blue eyed Scandinavian white. I drive a nice car and dress well. If I am stopped by police or have some kind of random encounter, I am probably going to survive it. That would not be a given if my skin were brown, and I damn well know it. While I like to watch football, and played a bit until I reached the limits of my talent, I understand completely why they have gone this route and support the players in what they do. They have the true power in this situation, and have actually been quite restrained in using it.
Steel, I don’t want to start a flame war with you, as they are pointless, so I will not post further on this thread. I will close by saying that the will to win is important, but it is trumped by the will to live.

These athletes can do whatever they want. It’s their choice. They’re going to have to live with the consequences good or bad.
Destruction, Bullying, intimidation, violence and criminal activity are not the type things that are going to make me sympathetic to the cause. It actually has the opposite effect for myself.
I grew up and went to school in the inner city and unless someone has experienced that situation it’s a hard thing to understand.
It’s very unfortunate and I’m not 100% sure how to fix it, but unfortunately the stereotyping and profiling is mostly deserved/justified.
I hope some day things will be different, but it’s going to take some effort from both sides in order for that to happen.

A sit out at this point isn’t going to change many hearts and minds. It may appeal to hearts and minds that have already been won, but it won’t change many. If the players want to do something impactful, they can play, get paid, and donate their game checks to charities that invest in fixing systemic racial disadvantages at their roots. Even better, the NFL and Players Association can start a matching program and match donations made by fans to a specific group of charities. I’d mail in a check Day 1 for that.

We shouldn’t get too far into a discussion on this subject here, so I’ll just say that I agree 100% with this statement and leave it at that.

The problem that arrives from this though is that their position as pro athletes and the money they earn, people are inclined to view it as what do they have to complain about. Guy at work said this very thing about watching three Twins ball players kneeling before a game, he turned it off and is done with baseball because what did those millionaires have to feel slighted about. The message of equality for all is obscured by the their status. Its a difficult line to walk, how do you change the hearts and minds of people without them getting caught up is things that have no bearing.

Still watch some MLB. Quit the NBA years ago. Outside of the Steelers, don’t watch much NFL thanks to Goodell being a tool, so go ahead and boycott. As long as there’s college football, I’m good. It’s a better product anyway.

Entertain me or lose me PERIOD! We can all agree, disagree or agree to disagree due to party lines and that is all any of this is. Kaepernick's story is full of ****. If he cared he wouldn't grand stand with Nike slave laboring folks to pay him and or the others that grand stand and don't do ****. Lot of regular folks donate to this and that but they don't get dirty putting in the work. Donating money is nice but it's easy... Putting time into the cause is boring for most in any field.

I get the injustice rants but I see the politicization It all and the real stats that call it a farce, their actions calling it a farce etc... Makes any attempt a farce in my personal opinion. You want to blame cops? Take it to their precincts and have open dialogue... As opposed to stir up the masses during the anthem... And in the very least, show merit by doing such on your own time!

Bunch of uneducated where it counts folks thinking they're doing something by doing next to nothing other than taking a night off? It is flipping clown shoes in all honesty. Take a **** and read a book on the toilet because you ain't getting this real life education in school period.

[Mod edit - this went off the rails @dobbler-33@dobbler-33. You know better!]

Would you prefer rioting in the streets? Y’all don’t seem to understand the constitution. It doesnt just apply when you feel it’s acceptable. Yes, they’re athletes getting paid millions of dollars, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t allowed to express their opinion. Nor does it mean you get to choose when and where they express that opinion.

you’re turned off because of peaceful protests and turned off because of riots. So basically what you’re saying is they should just stfu and entertain you their opinion isn’t valid

Yes I’m saying they should STFU and entertain me. I mean I did tune in to watch a football game after all.
At this point it’s just grandstanding on their part. What’s the purpose of sitting out a game?
Typically when you strike, boycott, walk off you’re trying to force someone’s hand at something. So who’s hand are they trying to force? The owners? The fans? That’s not going to change anything.
This is just a “Look at me I’m politically correct, I’m on your side so don’t turn on us” moment.
I don’t think this is going to have the desired effect they’re hoping for. In fact this has the potential to backfire big time.
I’m not at all against peaceful protests. Why don’t these athletes get out and protest alongside the people they claim to support then? What are they going to just take a day off and sit in their million dollar homes watching the protests on their 100” big screen TV?

Its more effective for them to take a stand for what they believe in when it affects you. Pretty simple

    But it doesn't affect anyone.

At the games I will do what I should do at the anthem and I will look at anyone kneeling as having diisrespected the flag. Shame on them. But nothing good will happen for anyone.

To me, it's just "hey everybody, look at me".

Yes it affects me, but in a negative way. Isn’t the goal to gain support?
Do they want want me stand with them or be opposed to them?
Wouldn’t it be more effective to hold a rally on a bye week in the city of said team and ask the fans to come out stand with them and support the issues?

This is probably why so many large companies have a policy against stating your beliefs, be they political, racial or religious, in the WORKplace. Voice your opinion from the mountaintops..................on your own time!

Politics, no religion, nothing anyone could deem offensive, on face masks. You do, and you are fired.
