I really don't get the uproar over this move. Manning has been great for the Giants. However, he is nearing the end of his career and the Giants aren't going anywhere this year. It sucks for Manning and the fans but the team has to do what's best for their future success. With that being the case I can see why a team would want to see what they have as backups. Are they a suitable successor or do they need to look to the 2018 draft?

Seems that New York sees something in either Rosen or Darnold.

Within the same vein, if either is chosen, that will mean nothing in the long run should that offensive line remain intact.

A much better offensive line is needed to protect them. Otherwise, it will be more of the same.

The Chargers wouldn't have done you that way, Eli.

No, they would have beaten him into submission by trading all of his weapons and given him a new coach and coordinator every year. No SB wins either. Then, they would have moved you to a city that doesn't want you!

I blame Rivers for that. It's a beautiful area but Rivers could have gotten out of there years ago.

Apparently the plan was to start Manning and then pull him in the second half. Manning said if you are going to do that, just start Geno, its not fair to either one of us.

He was very classy and professional in his interview. Lot of people dont like the Manning family, I think they are first rate all the way.

Geno is not the answer and I doubt Webb is. If anything, they should be starting Webb if you want to see what you have at the QB position.

    All around dumb move IMO.

Hasn't everyone already seen what Geno can(not) do? Just look at old Jets tape. (Ask Bellycheat, he'll give you his pirated copy)

It's time to move on from Manning, maybe JXville will pick him up if Tom Coughlin
    thinks he has anything left?

Interesting. Hadnt even thought of that, simply because I thought he would be a Giant for life. Obviously, thats changed now.

2x SB winner and they are benching him for scrubs. He deserved to go out on his terms.

I think they are just chucking their season to get a top draft pick and clearing up some cap space, but playing behind a bad oline with no running game and both of their starting receivers on IR pretty much threw Eli to the wolves, he wont retire because he will have multiple offers to ponder....

I hope Geno throws 4 picks and then Eli tells McAdoo to **** off when he tries to put him in. Eli would never do that, but he should. Starting Geno over Eli is a slap in the face. You could kind of justify starting Webb, but not Geno, not a guy that is a complete bust.

The Giants have given Eli nothing to work with the last couple years, except for Beckham, who Eli has had not this year. The Oline is terrible, there's no running game, their down to their 5th string WR and their best receiving option is a rookie TE.

McAdoo is as good as gone next year. I wouldn't be surprised if the GM is gone too. Hopefully Eli goes to Arizona and has himself a great year.

Yeah, plus I heard his old lady doesn't want to move to a new shoe.

I think he's actually up to 8 now!

McAdoo and GM Reese canned this a.m. Who didn't see that coming? In a way I feel bad for Eli, in a way I don't. He has handled his career in an exemplary manner, but it seems to me that the benching smacks of karma for the whole "I won't play for the Chargers" bit.
