It would be the Karma he deserves

Your bitterness is exactly why your biased opinion on Pickett doesn't hold up.

    Is Kaleb Johnson a traitor?

He became entitled or maybe he always was and didn’t come out because things were good. Then adversity hit and he handled it terribly or his true colors came out. Either way, he gave a masterclass in how not to behave to a benching/competition.

You didn't answer the question. Why aren't you critical of Kaleb Johnson?

I have never claimed that Pickett handled the situation well, but I think both sides botched things and his reaction was more anger than anything else. It wasn't fear of competition. It was anger at not getting the opportunity to compete for a starting job that he saw as being his.

I read your post perfectly. You are hoping things go poorly for the guy, which demonstrates the sort of bitterness that compromises your ability to see things clearly.

I ask again, why are you not angry that the Steelers selected Kaleb Johnson? Why are you not criticizing him? Do you even know why I'm asking you that question?

Let me give you some hints.

Were the Patriots wrong to take Will Campbell?

Were the Browns wrong to take Mason Graham?

What about the Jets taking Membou, the Bears taking Loveland, or the Chargers taking Hampton?

Those are just examples from the first round in the 2025 draft. What do you think they have in common?

Since jeh won't admit that I've got him here, the players I brought up all skipped their teams' bowl games their final year of college ball because they were moving on to the NFL. it is very common now, so if it makes Pickett a traitor, it makes Kaleb Johnson one, too. It makes it very odd that jeh would try to use that as a knock against Pickett's character.

There is another parallel to be drawn here, but I'll leave that to the imagination of others.

They had his replacement: Metcalf. This is where you're.. frustrating?.. to discuss these matters with - you don't seem to consider what the other side is saying; you keep repeating your talking points.

I understand that you (and a lot of us) wanted the club was going to bring in a known name WR2. But was that realistic? How often have they had substantial contracts with two WRs at the same time? Maybe our roadmap as fans doesn't line up with their plans as an organization. We can dislike it, and wish they did it differently, but that doesn't mean they "failed", per se. Maybe they're just sticking to their plan.

Back to Pickens, we don't know what kind of things were going on behind the scenes. But in scenarios involving a disruptive attitude, they typically don't get "expelled" on the first infraction - and Pickens wasn't, as your analogy above suggests - they're coached up with hope they come around. But you only get so many coachings/write-ups/suspensions - if they reach a critical point where the club feels it detrimental to keep the person around, they're going to move on.

This is where you are misreading me and my point. (But I appreciate the attempt to state that more diplomatically.) I am considering what they other side and countering it. Despite your claim that it was unrealistic, the Steelers could have easily had two name receivers for the 2025 season, then they traded Pickens away without a valid replacement.

It wasn't their plan to not bring in another receiver last season. They tried to get one and failed. If it is their plan to make Woods their only addition this year, it is a stupid plan. It is a plan that looks very much like the failure we saw in 2024. By your logic, nothing the Steeles do would be a failure because it would be according to plan. That simply isn't true.

The club needs to do its due diligence and be ready to move on. Given that their plan seems to be promoting unproven guys from within and signing a washed up Robert Woods, they did not do that.

You're not reading "my logic" correctly, past or present. So there's no reason to keep arguing this.

Similarly, your counter-examples to jeh's opinion concerning Pickett are flawed as well. I'm not taking sides, but that could be why he stepped away as well, rather than to avoid admitting you "got him."

What am I not reading correctly in your logic? If I see someone reading my post incorrectly, I don't just accuse them of missing the point. I explain how. Please do me the courtesy of doing the same. Also, I'm allowed to disagree with what you think is logical.

Jeh criticized Pickett for not playing in the bowl game his final year at Pitt. He wrote that it made Pickett a traitor. I countered by asking him why he isn't calling Kaleb Johnson a traitor. Johnson skipped Iowa's bowl game this past season. So did all of those examples I listed. How are those examples flawed? Those players did exactly what jeh criticized Pickett for doing. Rather than admit I was right, he bailed.
