    Well, Asha...

Oops, I mean "Yara" isn't at all how I expected her. But maybe in time she'll grow into the role.

In case you were wondering, yes, that scene happens in the books (well, 2nd base anyway, he never rounded third). And she's really brazen, with a lot of swagger. As to why? I'm sure they'll have her explain herself on the show. It went beyond just embarrassing him, and it wasn't for... wanton reasons. We're not going into another version of Jaime-Cersei.

Awesome thread guys! I am also a GOTh fan, and I've read all of the books (all but the latest one twice). I think it's a groundbreaking series, and it's going to keep getting better. My only complaint about the series so far is what they've done to Renly. In the books, he was a charismatic, burly warrior like Robert, not a wuss who couldn't stand the sight of blood. That's Hollywood for you. Oh well, the series is still a fantastic adaptation of the books. New episode in 3 hours! :swordsman: :swordsman: :swordsman:

What took you so long getting in here? :)

Yep, Renly was wussified for the series (or maybe the actor just can't pull off swagger. IDK)

Don't get me started on Shae and Asha, er, I mean, Yara. Those 2 are even worse than Renly. But overall, they've adapted the books very well all things considered.

ETA: And this season, they're making Littlefinger WAY too obvious. He's smarter than that.

What a great episode that was. My jaw hit the floor during that scene with Renly. :gasp:
I actually finished book #1 earlier today. Great book and great show. I read a couple posts on a fan site earlier in the week that I got a kick out of-

A man likes seeing Arya's story in Harrenhall.

A man does NOT approve of the first victim being the Tickler. A man prefers the way the Tickler went out in the books.

Sorry, Jaqen has always been one of my favorite "minor" characters. :)

There's a lot of minor changes to the books they're making this year. Some of them really subtle. But when it all gets added up, it starts getting to be big changes. They've already screwed some future scenes. IDK if I'm all too worried about it. I guess I'm just a book purist. Still a great show.

So is it WiC.net or Tumbler you saw that on? ;-)

Funny line about the kitten, considering what we know Joffrey DID do with kittens when he was a little boy from the books. (he didn't drown them... I'll leave the rest unsaid in case they decide to include that little story in the show)

Jaqen is a cool dude. Obviously I haven't encountered him in the books yet, but yeah...he's pretty likable. :)

Dangit Ray, stay out of my browser history. :lolol: :p
I don't remember where it was, but funny stuff for sure. :-D

So, no Joff this week. I guess that's OK because his likability factor is somewhere in Bellechick territory. Ray, you mentioned some changes that may screw things up in the future - I seem to remember from the books that something fairly important happened before Jon went off with Quorin Halfhand... but I may have my timing off. Is that one of the things that you were referring to? (sorry for the tease TTF)

Yup, HBO series usually aren't, but no one's suggesting letting kids read or watch it. :)
The board does have a word censor in place, but self censoring language goes a long way and is appreciated. ;-) 10 points to you for being the first person on the message board to use the word 'semen', though. :lolol:

    MY EYES!!

    Just kidding, Elvis. I didn't see anything spoiler-ey. :)
There is a spoiler button you can hide your text in though, if you fear it may give away future plots. :D

This is only for Steel Elvis:

[spoiler:17alpb7h]No. Nothing terribly important with Jon is out of place yet. I was referring to the Tickler being Arya's first name given to Jaqen. And Loras saying he didn't believe Brienne was responsible for Renly and blaming Stannis straight off.

That kills 2 really cool scenes. First being Arya HERSELF killing the Tickler. With every stab, "Is there gold in the village? How about silver? Where is the Brotherhood? Where is Beric Dondarrion? How many men does he have? Is there gold in the village? Where is the Lightning Lord? How many men? How many? How many? How many?" Until the Hound has to pull her off of him.

The other being Loras storming after Brienne when she and Jaime make it to King's Landing, drawing his sword and demanding she defend herself because he'll not kill an unarmed woman (or close enough). Jaime then not so gently reminds Loras that he is the Lord Commander of the King's Guard, and tells Loras "Now put that sword away before I shove it up someplace even Renly never found."

Also, they're giving the green dreams to Bran, which probably means we'll not see the Reeds. And unless they pull a huge surprise on us, Ramsey (Snow) Bolton wasn't cast, so events at Winterfell are going to get tricky.[/spoiler:17alpb7h]

    :roflmao:

No. Nobody would recommend letting kids read or watch this. But it isn't "porn" either. Granted, it isn't for everyone. But then, nothing is.

Depending on maturity, I'd say some 17 y/os could handle it. I would caution against anyone younger than that.

lol that made me laugh pretty good man and ya I try sometimes but in real life i have a hard time not swearing, and ya just a part of the book that blew my mind was the in depth detail of stuff like that ...great books. awkward imagery sometimes ! Show is different from certain points but it is like LOTR worked very well into cinema even though I hated LOTR on film towards the end. All I know is cannot wait for some Battle of Blackwater !

That episode really felt far from the books. In some ways good. In other ways annoying. Good episode either way.

    And yeah:

I came across this today. A group of fans are trying to make a web based series of Dunk and Egg. Everyone is working for free on the project, but they are trying to raise 10K for production costs. Should be interesting to see how it turns out. Thought it was worth sharing.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll look forward to that as I haven't read the Dunk and Egg short stories, even though I know some of that history. Those novellas are scattered through several anthologies. I wish he'd publish them all in a single book. Maybe some day.

BTW, "Dunk" (aka Ser Duncan the Tall) was name dropped in episode 2 of season one. :) It's also speculated that he is the grandfather of Hodor... and possibly Brienne as well. "Egg" is the nickname of Aegon Targaryan, who later becomes King after Aemon refuses the throne. Yes, our Maester Aemon that is.
