Roger Goodell has a Q&A in baltimore today and said the following

On playing Super Bowl outdoors in northern city: "I love the games in the elements. Some of our most historic games have been in the elements. That’s been part of our tradition, part of our history. So we felt it was worth, let’s see how it works. What happens after that, we’ll make some decisions. People ask: What are you hoping for? I’m hoping it represents the elements. If it snows a little bit, that’s OK for me. That’s football. I’m looking forward to it, I will be sitting outside."

Would you like to see it?

I mean come on a superbowl in Pittsburgh HELL YEAH

Hate to do it, but I completely agree with Goodell on this one.

I was going to make a point about seating capacity and the slim possibility that Heinz Feild could ever host, but then I did the research and it turns out that Lucas Oil Stadium is actually smaller than Heinz Field. So why not in Pittsburgh?

    GO STEELERS!

I like the idea. Why does it have to be in a warm climate/environment?

    I voted "depends".

I would support and would love to see a cold weather Super Bowl, but I probably wouldn't attend as I don't like watching games in person at the stadium. If there were no seats at the stadium and everyone had to stand the entire game, I'd go.

I hate to do it but I agree with Goodell. I to think it should be played in the elements and maybe it will cut back on the half time entertainment and get on with the game.

would be nice if they would keep it like a normal playoff game. Team with the better record will host the SuperBowl on their own field.

That would be huge. Would also prevent teams from shutting down the final games of the season in order to rest up for the playoffs.

i considered something similar when they gave it to new york city and some fans thought it was a silly move to have one in nyc scheduled soo far ahead basically at ground zero in cold weather with people wearing jackets!

do you agree 12to88 YO CREEPO pittsburgh75?

how about if the 2 teams are tied in record? that's why, i thought the winner of the super bowl gets to host it the next year. it benefits the team (maybe) but it definitely benefits the city for which soooo many teams claim their allegiance too.
i do not care for new stadiums getting a super bowl and i do not like the miami , phoenix ,warm weather places getting majority of games.

the owners have a reason to do what they can for the team and city especially the TAX money used for these venues. BRING IT BACK. BRING IT BACK . BRING IT BRING IT BRING IT BRING IT BACK. OOH NOW OOH NOW OOH NOW OOH NOW! BRING IT BRING IT BRING IT

H2H would be possible(Giants and Patriots played each other this year already...Gmen won). common games(min 4) would be possible also. SOS. 2 week notice is far more time then any other sport gets for their Championship..

Tie breakers work the same with teams from different conferences. Head to head if applicable, division record, conference record, strength of schedule, record vs common opponents, point differential, etc. There's a ton of tie breakers that would be applicable.

I agree though that it would be tough to have the SB planned and setup in only 2 weeks, especially if the stadium was already being used for something else on that particular Sunday. No matter how big the Superbowl is, a contract is a contract, and if the stadium has already been reserved for that day by something else, the NFL can't just take it over.

Other sports don't necessarily need to have their championship games on a specific day. Can you imagine if the stadium was reserved for Superbowl Sunday by another company so the NFL moved it to Tuesday instead? Stadiums are quite often reserved a year ahead of time for events

But the date is set... teams would have to just not sched stuff for that Sunday just in case... the same way they do for potential home playoff games.

The only reason for the two weeks is all the media and extracurricular hooplah that goes along with the big game. Get rid of all the lead-up crap and two weeks is plenty for th enetwork to prep for the game (get cameras in place, train the crews, etc).

Sorry, but the "...already reserved..." argument doesn't hold water. Playoff games locations are not known in advance either. Like someone said, it's just another round of the playoffs. Stadiums will just have to hold the date open until such time that it is sure that the SB won't be there.

I also like this idea because it might open the door for some real fans to attend, not just the rich and famous. No offense to those of you that have been lucky enough to attend, but I get tired of seeing all the hollywood stars in attendance. And have you ever tried to get a room...

    that's crazy!1
it's the biggest spectacle in sports
it's a city by god AN ENTIRE CITY!! people can't plan for winter even though they have known it comes at certain time every damn year???
city runs out of salt the plows are broken
two weeks and you have a bigger fiasco than those poor souls who had NO SEATS LAST YEAR IN DALLAS.thats just the stadium what about the weather they had they were not ready
this is why the world cup and olympics are held every 4 yrs which is why the super bowl has such a head start but i would go to awarding the team more so the city than the team for the future super bowls
WE LOVE L.A. WE LOVE IT!

Wouldn't be a Tuesday SuperBowl. Right now teams have to go on the chance that they will be playing a home playoff game for any of 3 weeks following the reg season. What would be so tough to add in 2 more weeks for the SuperBowl, since the date would already be set. You never hear about teams having sched problems with their stadiums during the playoffs.

look at the NFC right now. The Packers and Giants game is in progress and you dont know where next weeks game will be at.

WAH, WAH, WAH!! It's just a freakin' football game. It doesn't need to be the biggest spectacle in the world. The only folks that should even care are the fans of the two teams involved and they should have first priority (which they currently do not). Get rid of the half time fiasco, get rid of the 12 hour build-up and let's play football!

Its exactly the hype and corporate BS that allows the NFL to be what it is.
