If we are so close to the cap... where *does* the money come from? With the new CBA in place my understanding was there are a lot more things that are hidden from the public but is there some resource the effectively describes options for how player salaries are structured under the new CBA (including things that affect cap hits like the calendar for when players get cut).

I know Del used to do a breakdown but I think he was the one who suggested it would be nearly impossible to do what he's done in the past given the new CBA.

I guess they're only signing for vet minimum, but you're right...

I think Roth would be a good pick up, though. Less enthused about the Kicker.

I like Roth as well, but I wonder if he would take Carter's spot.

Also keep in mind during this time of year the "Rule of 51" comes into play. Only the TOP 51 salaries on the team counts towards the cap right now. So as long as those 51 dont exceed the cap then they are fine.

i read on steelers depot that with wallace's tender amout taken into account, that we are over 5 mil. under the cap right now with two more draft picks to sign. decastro and spence. we should have enough to sign a low to mid vet or two. i'll bet some more cuts will come before the season starts.

we should save the 1.2 mil. for johnson if we keep another TE.

has memo signed anywhere? could he be an option for one more year? MT sure liked him. i like him too, he's played well for us for a few years and he can do alot of things. is he a haley type back? i don't think anything is set in stone at the RB spot except redman and rainey to make the team. with haley here he may value more mobile backs over bigger backs. i just don't know enough about what haley's MO is really. i know he adjusts what he like's to do to his players, but here, he's loaded at near every spot and now can play mad scientist with this offense.

i still think we may get an older journeyman cb for a year on D. some guy that still has a little gas in the tank near the end of his career, that want's a shot to win a ring.

I would be disappointed if we had Memo another year - not because I have anything against him (he's one of the more underrated players on the squad in terms of what he's contributed over th elast few years), but more because it would mean the likes of Dwyer, Batch, Clay etc. aren't stepping up.

I agree that what Haley does will be interesting... we just can't pre-guess at this stage.
